Hey guys.
I am having an issue with my JP.
I have blown through a couple of my F7 fuses...I will show pictures. I have replaced them and the game has worked fine. Not so much anymore.
Now I put the .5A fuse in, turn the game on and the fuse gets INCREDIBLY hot? Any ideas what is happening?
Pictures to follow...having issues uploading....

So the fuse that's blowing looks like it's connected to the display, which would explain what you're seeing on the DMD. What if you leave the display disconnected? Does the fuse still get hot? That in and of itself sounds a little odd, but then again, I don't think I've ever checked to see how hot the fuses get in a game while it's on.

I'd probably start with trying to isolate the problem by selectively disconnecting stuff. Maybe the whole display section, then add things back in one at a time (controller, DMD) and see if that changes things.

I will try what you are saying....
To be a little clearer, when I turn on the machine my GI comes on, but that is it. No testing T-Rex, no music, no display (well what you see) no music...nothing.

Does that change your ideas?

I had a very similar issue with a Sharkey’s Shootout. It turns out the DMD was bad- it was acting up for a short while but then the machine just wouldn’t boot. Swapped out the DMD and it solved the problem. Might be worth a shot to swap in a known good display and/or display driver board.

Yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking you could isolate with the whole display section disconnected. If the game boots normally without the DMD connected (or the DMD controller), then that's what's suspect.

I was thinking that maybe it was the display driver board? Maybe a short in a resistor/transistor? For the fuse to get that hot, I would assume too much electricity/current going through?

I had a bad solder on a transistor on the display driver board of my TSPP once. The machine went crazy and eventually wouldn't even boot. Re-soldered and she has been good ever since. In my case I could feel the component was loose so diagnostics was quick.
