    Vewlix Clone MAME/Console Project

Thought I'd give an update to my vewlix.. I've added an led strip and I changed that horrible blue led to white on the marquee. The other thing to do on my list was to change the black bit on the side to that satin chrome like the original vewlix C... Enter a 10 dollar piece of satin chrome...

    Vewlix Clone MAME/Console Project

Hey guys, It's been a while! I haven't really touched the Chewlix in a while since I've gotten the Sega Astro City bug! (got working one for 600 and another for 150 wasn't working, a couple of hundred dollars later, I got it fixed and now I have two to play on 29 inch 15khz monitors!! And a...

So it's been a while since I've had any major update and for a reason, I've been patiently waiting for my second cab :) Yesterday, this massive box finally arrived! It's nicely packed and I didn't have any issues with additional customs fees for fumigation or anything like that. These little...

Just re-read, yes, the holes you've circled are required. For my brackets they are threaded

    Vewlix Clone MAME/Console Project

Yeah they are.. The larger holes on the large bracket is the hole that's used to secure the bracket to the frame of the cabinet. The holes in the in the medium bracket is what's used to screw the bracket to the monitor

Time and effort mate :) By the time you get someone to spend the time knocking it up.. that 50 bux I spent makes it seem cheap :) :)

I don't know why it does this when the link is of an imgur album. But if you click on the imgur logo, you should be able to get to it. Edit: I made it a code tag, you'll just have to copy and paste the link. Every time I put the link, it turns it into a media imgur tag.

Sorry it took so long guys, I've been flat out with work/family/December :) Here's the best measurements I could take. If you need more measurements, let me know. https://imgur.com/a/NFraU

Yeah it is - if you don't know how to work with metal :) You obviously work with sheet metal so this will be a walk in the park for you :) The cost of the brackets for me is far cheaper than me spending the time and effort to even attempt trying to replicate :D :D I'll measure the brackets...

    Vewlix Clone MAME/Console Project

The brackets were 20 USD for a set, I ordered 2 sets. Shipping cost me another 30 USD unfortunately, so it was a relatively expensive exercise. I'm pretty sure you could order some. The company I ordered the brackets from isn't the company I will be ordering another Chewlix from. I know for a...

    Vewlix Clone MAME/Console Project

The Chewlix adventures continues! :) After my failed "tate" attempt of the Chewlix, a fellow shmups player provided some details on how he rotated his Vewlix. It turns out, I required additional brackets to turn the Chewlix into a vertical shmups cab https://imgur.com/a/VZeNx Once I received...

Looks like a lot can happen in 12 hours! :( I was expecting my delivery tomorrow, but the seller has told me the cabinet had been "incorrectly" labelled and has already been sold after I paid a deposit! Not happy at all! Need to look at importing costs from Alibaba

    Vewlix Clone MAME/Console Project

It's been a while since I made any progress :) I had an idea of making a "Y" harness so I could have both the Brook UFB and Jamma harnesses plugged into the controller. Unfortunately, the idea was great in theory, but for some reason (and I still can't figure out why), when both UFB and...

    Introduce Yourself!

Thought I should post in the intro thread... I stumbled upon this page through google for "Vewlix" related items and mwong168's thread appeared. I quickly joined up to comment and add my progress on my Vewlix cab. I love my arcade cabs, but not so much Pinballs - I know it's ironic, but the...

    Vewlix Clone MAME/Console Project

Yeah that's what I thought too. However, I do have a dedicated vertical 24 inch widescreen retro bartop cabinet I've built for the vertical games. Not HD though. I can't see myself having a dedicated HD cabinet for SHMUPS though unless I get a 3rd cab - which is highly unlikely. I didn't...

    Vewlix Clone MAME/Console Project

So curiosity got the better of me.. Spent a few hours last night trying to work out if I could rotate this cab. TL;DR - Didn't work for my cabinet Btw, excuse the mess of the garage. I'm in the process of clearing it out hahah The back of the unit is pretty dull, two horizontal metal frames...

    Vewlix Clone MAME/Console Project

Hahaha yep! The extension alone was about 30m! I'm going to look at getting some spiral wire to make it a little neater. Thought of doing braids and heat shrink but I couldn't be bothered. I just wanted a nice quick way of swapping in between jamma and consoles/pc I now need to find a nice...

Another parcel arrived for me today!! 200m worth of 20 AWG wiring! 16 pin ATX style male/female connectors and their respective contact socket/pins Here's my wiring details for my cabinet (YMMV) My awful drawing that got the job done :) It showed me where I needed to connect my pins and...

Ahh my bad, I thought since you were buying all those region free 360 shmups you were a fan :) I'm a fan, I just never bought stuff lol I'll probably try and rotate sometime this week just to test it out.

@mwong168 - I haven't actually tested it out and I noticed you're a bit of a SHMUPS fan, have you tested rotating the screen? Is it possible on these clones without too much modification?
