Yeah I was thinking this might happen. Renewed interest in Metallica and then the new machine sells out so people go looking for the old one.
I'm kind of leaning towards holding onto it now, I feel more comfortable with hard assets than cash in the bank at the moment for various reasons.
I'll bump this in anticipation of the announcement on wednesday of the new game. I imagine it's going to be a hot item but if anyone wants the tried and true original version the prices will probably be good now. I am obviously open for negotiation so send me your offers!
Toronto has some decent pinball spots but the arcade scene in general in Canada is fucked. There are more private collections than public arcades, especially if you're into something niche like rhythm games.
Usually replacement cost is used for this kind of insurance appraisal. Start collecting screenshots of pinside ads and other ads so you can show what the market rate is. Condition and any other factor that affects price matters too.
lots of details coming out on pinside. They had almost a million in customer money across 86 customers. I can't believe that many people put money down on a machine when they didn't know if it would ever leave the shop. Based on stuff I'm seeing from former employees they were flying by the seat...
Ive seen William's posts on pinside and I can say that this is most certainly true. This guy knows his stuff! If I was in the market for this pin this is the one I would want.
I'm definitely going to visit but a multimorphic would get me in the door ASAP. I really want to try some of the games, especially Weird Al. Unfortunately I hear those machines can be a bit of a nightmare to maintain so in a commercial setting they seem like a bad choice.
Thanks for the advice. I have a Class of 1812 machine that I'm going to hold onto because it's rare and not nearly as expensive as these modern machines. (plus it's just a cool machine)
I figure if it comes down to it I can always buy another if I miss it that much.
Hey! Yes, I thought this was a keeper for sure. It's such a good machine I just don't get to play often enough and feel so guilty having such an expensive toy sit around unused.
Yeah I won't knock the other versions but the pro plays super fast with no slow downs and you don't have to deal with...
