Both Dave Astill's Judge Dredd and mrxsiv's No Fear/Royal Rumble are reasonably priced DMDs from reliable, upstanding sellers. Would be worth exploring those as a first machine...check the for sale threads.

Neat game to play on the Pin Arcade (I play thru iOS) but when I finally got a chance to play one at both Pinfest and the PHOF this year it really didn't hold up. Good on you for going the extra mile for your wife though!

Welcome! Buy what turns your crank, not what the masses tell you! Stick within a set budget and reassess when you buy your (inevitable) next machine. As others have said, make sure your first is machine is in good working order...learn along the way when "little" things go wrong...and pray...

Well...though Sys80 games have a bad rep, the bright side is there is lots written about them to get them in working order. FYI, every TOPcast tech episode has an "I Survived System 80" tech tip. And I think one has to do with audio problems. Worth a listen?
