Hello everyone, I'm trying to help my buddy fix his Escape from the Lost World.
The game won't start because it doesn't detect both balls. display reads missing balls 2
When the first ball drops into the middle gutter it doesn't kick the ball to the left multiball shooter lane like it should. I think the ball pressure EOS switch isn't working as I tried to maually push them to see if the solenoid fires. In Test mode the solenoid fires. If I manually put the ball in the multiple ball shooter lane on the left where an optic board is the ball automatically fires out. If I stand there and manually repeat this process maybe 1 out of 20 times the ball will stay locked in the multiple ball shooter lane to the left and ball 2 will lock in the middle gutter. Once the game starts the ball in the gutter gets kicked to the shooter lane like normal but once you put the ball on the playfield the left multiple ball shooter lane shoots out the ball.

Sounds like a switch / opto issue for sure. Put the game into switch test and using the balls (not your fingers) confirm all of the optos & switches in the trough are registering correctly. My guess is at least one of them will be intermittant or not working at all, which would cause the issues you describe. If this is the case, you should be able to identify which switch / opto is bad, and come up with a plan to replace it yourself or if you're not comfortable with the repair reach out to someone that is. (like me)

Hope this helps, and let us know what you find.

I made the error of using flex head leds in the 2 555's by the opto's as they rely on those bulbs for proper function and really need to be bright white domed style for best performance, at least on mine. Hope it works out for ya.

I finally got around to trying to test out the issues. I found that when my finger or a ball covers LED1 on the optics board (one closest to the kicker) the kicker keeps kicking repeated. If I cover LED2 (furthest away from kicker) nothing happens. My thoughts are that the ball pressure switch in the outhole doesn't work and needs to be replaced as it doesn't detect a ball but would that make the opto board led1 keep kicking when the ball is suppose to stay locked in the multiple ball lane? My other question is does anyone know where to purchase such a switch? I've looked on a bunch of sites and nothing is exact but some are kinda similar.
Thank You

I'm not too familiar with the 6803 trough system, but the LED1 that you're covering up with your finger *could* be the "ball jam" opto which would be why the kicker is firing all the time when you block it.
