ColorDMD is now accepting preorders for the new ColorDMD X-LED 192x64 display! Production is completing now with a target shipping date of May 5, 2018. This limited pilot run is being offered at an introductory price of $469 (lower than the price of available orange plasma displays) and will be available exclusively through the company's website.
Large format (192x64) displays were used in only four production pinball machines: Baywatch, Frankenstein, Batman Forever, and Maverick. To support the large format, X-LED contains over 12,000 individual RGB LEDs at a dot pitch of 2mm (compared to our standard ColorDMD LED product which contains 4096 LEDs at a 2.5mm spacing).
Both the ColorDMD X-LED and ColorDMD LED products are sized similar to the original factory displays. As a result of the different form factors, the X-LED cannot be used to replace standard 128x32 DMD displays.
The new ColorDMD X-LED sports a black powder-coated metal mounting frame, and makes use of the same Chroma controller board used in the company's existing LED products. A small adapter cable is included to provide a power connection from the original display's standard 18V supply.
The X-LED ships preconfigured with ColorDMD SIGMA firmware that supports use in single-color mode. Customers can select between 97 different colors using the integrated display menus. Multicolor support may also be available for some titles. Information regarding availability of game-specific multicolor support can be found on the firmware SUPPORT page of our site.
At time of release, ColorDMD will also release multicolor support for Baywatch pinball machines! Both the display and Baywatch color ROM have been demonstrated and tested at the Texas Pinball Festival and Midwest Gaming Classic earlier this year.
A full Baywatch announcement and preview will be sent in an upcoming email. For additional information, please join our mailing list, follow us on Facebook, or visit our website at www.colordmd.com!
