This does seem to smell more than a bit fishy; however the description of replacing the rubbers isn’t totally implausible.
As an owner of a NIB DI LE, I’ve already had to replace my sling rubbers as the ones which JJP installed had worn and frayed very quickly.
Others look like they will need replacing in the not too distant future.
Btw- regardless, this is an amazing pin.
