The transformer might be tricky but you can get a replacement rectifier from a few different places. GPE has the best one, but Ed unfortunately rarely has stock on them. The Rottendog one is also great, and you can get these easily.

Yeah, I can get a rectifier pretty easily, I think. But if I could find the whole assembly with a new transformer, that would be great just to avoid the soldering and such. Thanks for the reply.

Big Daddy Enterprises stocked working used Bally transformers last time I checked. K's Arcade also has a few Bally transformers in stock...worth it to check there, too. Obviously, they're pricy, and even more pricy to ship.

It'd be cheaper to get a new GPE board and have a local pinhead solder it for you. John Wart Jr is just outside Indy and well respected.

Problem is he said he also needs a new transformer. In the 17 years I've been wrenching on pins, I've only ever seen one failed transformer and it just happened to be from an old SS Bally... someone along the way over-fuse the rectifier and with a shorted bridge it ended up destroying the winding's so it does happen.

Agreed on the failed transformer, I was reading between the lines on "But if I could find the whole assembly with a new transformer, that would be great just to avoid the soldering and such"

OP, the only blown transformer I had to deal with crackled & smoked when on with wax coming out of it....kinda like gross pinball porn.
