Just received the following wonderful news from We.org regarding the PFC fundraising efforts.
Thanks to all who participated, and particular thanks to event hosts Rod McLarge (Spiro Agnew), Adam Becker (Vengeance), Josh Zilberberg (Meegis), Mike Luciani (Luch), Scott McDowell (Warlock), Eddie D'Orazio and Mark Tindall. This would not have been possible without places to play.
In the meantime, I wanted to reach out and share an update on the progress of the classroom in Kanambu. As one of our newest communities, we are so proud of what has already been accomplished under the Education pillar. There are many projects planned for Kanambu Primary School. In the coming years we plan to complete construction on six classrooms, full bathrooms, hand washing station, teacher and students' accommodations and a playground for children. Through Mingas (the coming together of community members to help complete important tasks at hand), we are so pleased to announce that classroom one and two is complete.
WE is excited to announce that with your support, we have started construction on the third and fourth classrooms. This classroom will be two-storeys made with steel and cement blocks. All of our school rooms in the Amazon have thermo-acoustic roofs to prevent distractions from the heavy rain that falls down. In addition, the school rooms are also heat repellent. To date, the foundation of the first floor has been complete and the blocks for the walls in the first floor were laid down and the community has started laying the foundation for the second floor. So far, they've laid the rebar, plastered the walls, and started to lay some sidewalks around the school so it's easy to access. The construction of the classroom is about 50% complete! The excitement of the children can be felt throughout the community. I've attached some pictures here for you to take a look and share with your group. Thank you so much for everything!!
I'm going to ask the esteemed Mike Wong to attach the pictures I've been sent. Hopefully we'll be able to continue in the fall - drop me a line if you'd be willing to host one of our events.
