HI:
I have a Williams Millionaire which I hadn't checked the batteries in a while.
You guessed it one of them went"bad" and partially corroded out one of the "pancake contacts(see pics).
I would like to fix the issue with board in place any suggestions?
Its the clip on the right at the top.
Thanks
Bernie

Hi Bernie,

i just went through the hell of attempting to replace my batteries with an NVRAM On a Williams MPU. Believe me, if you are not super comfortable with soldering ICs, I’d remove the board and ship it to a specialist to have work done.

you can replace the broken battery holder or replace the batteries with an NVRAM so you never have to worry about a leak again!

Please DM me if you’d like the contact of the person I used to fix the mess I made and install the NVRAM. His fees are very reasonable.

cheers,

john

HI:
Thanks for all the collective advice!
I am ok with boards and de soldering etc I just wanted to avoid the re and re if possible.
The best idea I have come up with is to remote the 3 AA cells to the swing out portion and cut out the old battery clip arrangement.
This eliminates any future old battery drain down causing a problem.
