I was browsing through the long winded pinside thread called JPOP update thread MG, RAZA and AIW. There were some neat photos so I thought I would post them here and give you guys the cliff notes version of his progress so far.

Looks like he didn't re-invent the wheel and is using Williams return lanes :)

Someone would have to verify this, but I'm almost certain those in-lane guides were originally developed by jpop. Could be wrong.

Nice to see he's finally sharing some of this stuff outside of the owners' blog.

John had promised a big reveal for the first week of January. I wonder if that's still on track?

I've always enjoyed playing JPOP's games... and not for their rule set, but for the feel of the shots, creative engineering and immersive gameplay & sounds. I'm sure these new games will be just as much fun once done.

That's looking like something approximating a complete game! Great to see progress, and hoping to play these sometime, but the proof will be in how it shoots, and how it's programmed. I have really liked some of the things John has done with magnets and unexpected shots (like the orbit->ramp shot on CV and TOM). The screen being where it is could also be really interesting-a chance to prove out some new ideas that never made it into p2k.

Neat art!
I love how JPOP hides little things all over his games.
It's pretty easy to spot him as a zombie to the right of Neb, the alien. Just above Neb's helmet is Terry from Pinball Life. I wonder what other pinball folk made it onto the Playfield or backglass?

You can definitely see the Comet/Cyclone influence in the playfield... And it looks like he's still planning to have an LCD embedded on the left side.

Can't wait to see the prototypes he's assembling now. We've been promised a February reveal of some sort. Can't say I'm holding my breath though ;)

Looks like he's had to change a few things due to copyright. The Xenon girl is now totally different, and there used to be a Dracula image pulled directly from the Comet playfield.

Weren't the cabinets in these supposed to be deeper than a standard game? They look pretty much the same as everything else.

Nevermind-in that picture, you can definitely tell that it's a deeper design to allow for more verticality in the game.

Was there ever any talk about open sourcing the code to these games? With such a small team, I'd imagine that the games could me mechanically complete, but the software is probably the first thing that would suffer. By releasing the code into the wild though, at least the community could pick things up?

Another teaser pic on his FB page with a newton ball next to some stand ups for Lion Saw.
