Well.... since you asked :)

Not a fan personally of vpins. It's gotta be real. I do have Pinball Arcade on my ipad, but truthfully I never played it again since I started buying the real thing. I tried the vpin at at Playdium gameroom but it's not for me.

what do you think about this game? just bid on this game from starburst auction outa of texas am i wasting my money?

In regards to the Ultrapin I think it is very limited to the number of tables available and dated. There has been lots of development over the years in the Visual Pinball community and lots of documented projects over on the Hyperspin forums of people building their own 2/3 screen cabs that can play full screen tables. There have been enhancements that allow for you to integrate into gameplay devices such as contactors, strobe lights, leds, shaker motors and even a real DMD display. If your only experience with virtual pinball is playing an Ultrapin then you have no idea what you are missing. Here is a video my friend gStav made on his cab a few years ago and he helps contribute these configs for each table to output to the flashers and if you listen carefully in the video when the flippers, slings or pops go off you can hear a thump from inside the cabinet which are Siemens contactors.

Also worth checking out is one of the top table authors and contributors over on the VPforums, jpsalas. He makes some of the best re-creations and funny thing is he doesn't even own any real pinballs and probably played a real pinball machine a handful of times. I have helped him out in the past create some tables like Congo by supply images and feedback of how it plays compared to my real one.

If you have a desktop PC running Windows, check out my step by step guide. Try to get a few tables running and just physically turn your monitor on it's side or tilt your head. Any questions or need help feel free to ask.

Mike is the resident V-Pin guy.. what I've seen him build blows the Ultrapin out of the water and makes it look like a cheap toy. I also find the response of the flippers to be a little slow.

I would definitley avoid the Ultra-Pin if you wanted to go this route and try and get something more "substantial" built.

I'm sure Mike could point you in the right direction.

Have a look through this build by chriz99 over on the Hyperspin forums with almost 200,000 views for the past 2 years.

He has always pushed the envelope when it comes to "firsts" integrating things such as flashers, shakers, led strips, strobes, etc on his cabs. Check out other builds threads as there are a lot of talented people who have come, gone or become resident experts. I use to be very active on there and document my builds and helped lots of people out over the years. I've been too consumed the past year buying and selling real pins and should really finish up my second Pinmame build as I traded my originally one away almost 2 years ago. I am using a P2K SWE1 donor cab with a third monitor facing the playfield glass and reflecting a reversed image of the DMD for all games so you can see your score and animations without taking your eyes off the ball too much during play.

I haven't updated my build thread in a while and when I do get around to finishing it I will bring a copy of it here.

I also made a portable PinMAME/Mame unit for a friend as well last year if you wanna read up on it too.

They had one in the showroom a few years back - first canadian pinball championships - and the thing that bugged me was the flippers. The game I was supposed to be playing was Bally/Williams early 90's but the flippers had the look and feel of a late '70's early 80's gottlieb game like Genie or Countdown.
