Personally hate this pin.
Never scored well, couldn't tell you if it even has multiball as I suck at it. Beyter off with transformers, xmen, star trek.
I know this may shock you but I found mustang more fun.
Back to working 100% with a new rottendogg power board. Unfortunately now $1600 to offset some of the cost of the new board. I juat installed some new rubber in 90% of tje machine. No half posts a few rubbers short. Game plays much faster now.
I call this machine a player as it does need a new...
Its coming back from my techs house this weekend after his kids give it a good playtest for a few days.
Dmd problems were being caused by the quartz controller that is located right beside the ribbon cable conmection. Looks like it may have been getting grounded out from some movement during all...
Damn, now I have to hook it up to the phone line.
No diagnostic mode without a connection.
I only connect one of my recievers. Real lack of phone jacks in the bassement.
Resetting sure ain't getting me there.
Anyone play with pvrs?
My non hd pvr doesn't want to record. It has time available and will play qhats on it ( not the hard drive ) just won't record or run timers.
Damn, I could have got a piece for next to nothing.
I guess I will wait until I get an Elvis as I will need it (as lexan is bulletproof if thick enough) to shoot at the tv mod and not damage the machine.........
My brother scored some 4x8 lexan sheets for $50 a sheet. He will have lots left over. I was considering using some as a replacement PF glass. Anyome tried this? Don't know if it will give me the same amount of noise reduction. I have to double check the thickness. Otherwise it could be a cheap fix.
I was thinking of a double date night at the church of the silver ball.
Made me wonder if Pin Rev has a review? Could get me a discount or extra time, Pin Rev night, etc.
I was in the GTA and stopped at Starburst and got a new rottendogg power supply board.
Went to remove the original. What a mess. Some of it is hard wired in.
Damn, now I need to have my tech by.
So much for playing....
I mustered up the courage to try to swap out the resistor myself. I only have a big ass soldering gun but somehow managed to do it. I put the dmd at 90 degrees in case of any drips.
I also swapped in a new coil in the slingshot that I previously had streched the swelling out of the sleeve.
Now...
I personally love the fruit crate inspired art. There are certainly plenty of other machines that are mature themed or have translighrs available.
Game play will be the make or break.
Then I guess I will seek out the 1 watt resistor to give the dmd the best chance of lasting long.
I want to be sure when I am ready to move on from Checkpoint that it has the best chance of being issue free for a long time.
My tech buddy is suggesting that I could use a 33k 1 watt resistor if I can"t find the half watt. He claims that the 1 watt will be able to handle the voltages better.
I think I will hold out and see if I can get 2 of the correct one. I am a bit leery about where any of the excess voltage might go.
Its been a few years out of the arcade back room.
Hes doing macro soldering fixing. Ipods and such for kicks.
We were careful and soldered to the wires of the removed one.
I get some of the lingo mixed up. I never took electricity shop and when he describes what is wrong it's like he is speaking...
Yeah, I just finished reading pinwiki.com data east sega repair guides.
4.10.4.1
Sometimes this display will light but the display will appear garbled. The display will flicker and move but the output will not be readable. This can be caused by the R95 resistor on the DMD controller board going...
As I am now in the high voltage section and my tech buddy has little experience with DMD repair I could really use some help tracking down my last issue (that made me pull it off the market)
Backgroumd: when I got this machine at auction the dmd didn't work. This was identified as a blown 33k...
Yeah, I have a spare coil. Just needed to be sure that was the only issue going forward.
Planning on some downtime on this machine in the near future to address a few things.
