Dr@No's fun filled (and often long-winded) restorations

I'm not trying to hi-jack your thread, I just wanted to share this with you because you provided me with the inspiration to do it. That's right you inspired me! Presenting my first Drano inspired PF repair; Here is the hole I'm trying to repair. It's minor, but it really bothered me. First...

    F14 Tomcat balls won't lock

Damn manuals. I was going from memory! You win this round Menace! ;)

    F14 Tomcat balls won't lock

Sorry, I mispoke. I meant that there are no switches in the trough. I think the switch is located right at the drain. You drain a ball, the switch is activated, and the solenoid kicks the ball into the trough. Either way, yes there is a switch. @stiffler, with my F-14 you only have to spell...

    F14 Tomcat balls won't lock

Yes 4 balls. From what I remember there are no switches in the trough. The 1st time you spell T-O-M-C-A-T you should see two red lights blinking on the divertor. If you send a ball to the VUK it should head to the divertor and then divert to the lock on the far right side of the PF. Ball 2...

    ColorDMD's next game is... Monopoly

Monopoly just turned 80 years old. I'm guessing this is the reasoning behind this.

    Repro Ramps - Starship-Fantasy

I've seen that one before. I can't afford $200 + shipping for something I'm only going to be using a handful of times. Why do you think I have that shitty rivet tool in the first place? ;)

    Repro Ramps - Starship-Fantasy

This is the rivet tool I have. Based on my limited use of this tool, a rivet gun like this would definitely crack the ramp. It pulls the back of the rivet through to the front and then snaps off the excess. All done using compression. I'm not familiar with how a rivet press works, but I...

Advice? Packing an MPU for shipping

Stick it into a padded static bag, wrap in foam, and box it. Don't over think it. It's not made of glass.

    Repro Ramps - Starship-Fantasy

It's the right side. It's only cracked, but it's one of those unsightly things that will drive me nuts unless I fix/hide it. There are no Cliffy's for NASCAR other than the universal rollover switch protectors. Marco sells protectors made by Stern but they are $75 each. Give me a break...

    Repro Ramps - Starship-Fantasy

I can see Stern being upset, but if they wanted $ all they would have to do is actually make the parts. For example, my NASCAR has a broken ramp. It's from 2005. Every vendor is sold out and some of the older threads on Pinside are saying Stern has decided to not bother making more. WTF...

    Repro Ramps - Starship-Fantasy

Cool website. I wonder if they will start repro'ing ramps for newer games any time soon? Thank you for posting!

Dr@No's fun filled (and often long-winded) restorations

That last photo is incredible. You could tell someone it was the engine out of a time machine and they would believe you. So complex, yet so simple. It must have been awesome to design things like this back in the day.

DIY - Light Up LED Flipper Buttons

Creetch... I should have known better that to look in this thread. :) Simple solution and it looks great. I've been thinking of designing something in a 3D editor and printing it out on Shapeways. Currently I'm designing it for my F-14, but if it works I'll try to adapt it for other pins...
