Apparently there is some difference. I'm not sure what it is yet but guys say that something is definitely different. Interesting that they will offer up the virtual files for free no problem but charge for the files for real pins. I guess you could always try them and see what happens.
Here's what's happening on the GNR front. I haven't read the entire thread but obviously someone is doing some work:

Just a quick update. I am currently cleaned out of displays. I have the parts on order to build another 30. There might be a handful of those available after the first "pre-orders" are taken care of. Delivery of those could be be mid-December if not a bit earlier.
If you are interested, drop me...
roar and I have started a discussion. He will be schooling me on what it takes to get MET working with these displays. I've reached out to the guy on Pinside that did the colour work. He's offering up the necessary files for $10 USD per person which is completely reasonable. There are a few...
Sorry guys, been a bit slow the last few days. Been busy building! I might have a couple of this batch unspoken for so flip me a PM if you are interested.
Regarding a few of the questions:
Cost is $250 CDN, no more, no less. And if you tell me what game, I will put together a wiring harness...
Need to deliver your boards so you can get these installed in your games!
The next set of boards will start being assembled this weekend. Most are spoken for but there might be a few available...
The board itself has mounting holes that line up with original DMDs so that is straight forward. There is a flat ribbon cable that needs to be plugged into the board. You then need to get power to the board in 1 of 2 ways. If you crank the brightness on these displays they draw a lot of current...
Rotate them through in what fashion? To get the colourization to work on a real game, you have to install a couple of files on the SD card that are specific to the machine. For a vpin the process is a bit different.

If you are reading this for the first time, there's plenty of info in this thread on the PIN2DMD displays that I sell.
I just wanted to provide an update as I now have large SEGA displays back in stock.
For a standard...
I took the head off of mine, removed the playfield and took it downstairs in 3 pieces. There was no other way it was going to come down easily. It's a bit of a pig.
I will be bringing some glass with me. As you can imagine, not the easiest stuff to transport. I you need some, give me a heads up so I know what to bring.
Thanks!
Hi Mike,
Yup, I can get backglass made as well. They are $30 a sheet. Let me know specifically which games you need them for if you can. There seems to be no standard size. I know you said Williams but I want to be as certain as possible.
He's getting roasted on FB as well. Guys have reached out to him pointing out that he is using a stock photo. He says he will only send pictures to serious buyers and that he is doing his best to keep the price of pins high to help the market.
If I had $10k for a pin I'd be shopping for a new...
