I use the insulated ones for repairs out in the wild. When I have a game in my shop, I use the original style as I have all the tools necessary on hand to do the replacement correctly. (pneumatic stapler is a must)

The insulated type fit no problem, unless they have changed the OD on the insulation. The only problem is that i no longer looks factory, but it's more robust.

I would be careful about using a flipper coil in place of the sling coil, unless they are the EXACT same part#. Usually sling coils are much higher resistance (read weaker) than flipper coils for a reason. If these are not the same it will work in a pinch, but you should really order the...
I've seen assemblies like this with grease on the pivot points from the factory that pack up pretty good. If that's the case just disassemble the whole sling mech, degrease it and reassemble. No real need for grease on this mech in a home use game.

When the sling gets stuck out, turn the machine off. If the sling goeas back to rest, the issue is electrical. If it stays out when you turn the game off it's a mechanical issue. Once you know which type of issue you are dealing with, then you can begin to form a logical plan of attack...
Just for reference I sold a working BK almost 10 years ago for $750. And how is the BK in that link a limited edition? (the link is claiming so)
The seller should learn pretty quickly that market value on this game is nowhere near $4500 when it doesn't sell.

Yeah, just a play on words I'm about 30mins south of you by the sounds of it. My shop is currently RAMMED with clients machines (I think 7 at the moment) so bringing the whole game to me would be the best option just not at this moment. You can bring me the MPU and the driver PCB and I can...
Besides dealing with Playdium in Toronto or MTL, you can reach out to https://pinballmedics.ca/ as this would be your only reasonable option in Canada.

I don't have any sys6 stuff on hand but I can tackle all of the repairs on it. At the very least the 40 pin interconnect header and sockets will need to be replaced, and if that doesn't solve all of the weird behaviour likely a PIA has failed. The locked on coil will need the transistor...
Damn right, that guy is worth the $ he charges! If this trend crosses over, used car pricing should go through the roof as everyone will work every repair / maintenence bill into the cost of the sale.

My biggest concern is the fact it's a widebody, and if that's what is holding the game back from being great no amount of code is going to fix that. Granted I can't see how you would get all of the mech's into this game without it being a widebody though.
