    Spiroagnew's basement thread

While the guys work away on the little things in the basement like touch-ups and access covers, I've been trying to visualize the space and tracking down a few things to PUT in the basement. I've been hunting kijiji for a mannequin torso(s) to display my game used Isles jerseys...who knew...

    Spiroagnew's basement thread

One of the contractor's assistants arrived this morning with some building materials, gave my kid a high five as he always does, and proceeded to the basement. Seconds later, I hear his boisterous voice call out: "YES!! FINALLY A BASEMENT THAT ISN'T BEIGE!!" The orange is done, and much of...

Trophies? "Dumbest Pinball Purchase of 2014" for the promised Bugs Bunny Birthday Ball? The only chance I'll have to claim this space is if she decides to relocate to one of the upstairs kid rooms when they fly the nest... Three power outlets in there for the record. Overkill. But its up to...

    Spiroagnew's basement thread

Imelda Marcos, first lady of shoes, was the answer to a trivia question that won my wife a $50 shoe gift certificate recently. Luckily for us, her hobby costs relatively little as she's constantly winning these gift certificates and on the hunt for deeply discounted shoes and other girly...

    Spiroagnew's basement thread

Ya...that would have been a great idea to wrap it in carpet! A buddy also suggested it. Its boxed in now, though. They are going to be painted white for the time being. I may paint them myself later one of the main colours (blue or orange) if it's not "too much on the eyes".

    Spiroagnew's basement thread

Trim finished up on Sunday afternoon, onto paint. I was working the past two days, and my wife went to the basement for a quick inspection on Monday after the painters had left...she texted and said the blue they used was a way lighter shade than she remembered me selecting but said she liked...

The Pinball Diaries (what did you do today?)

"Leaping" Lanny Poffo...what a gimmick. A good-guy jobber who lost to the stars and read poems written on frisbees which he then threw into the crowd. Saw him wrestle many times at Maple Leaf Gardens--jobbers (Poffo, Barry O, Iron Mike Sharpe, etc.) were used often at these Toronto shows to...

Finishing touches on the mud/tape/sanding this morning...yes, on a Saturday. Trim guy comes tomorrow...yes, on a Sunday. Seems the snow last Wednesday put a few schedules out of whack. Now we are reaching a point in the progress where photos may actually be interesting...rather than just...

The Pinball Diaries (what did you do today?)

Datenight with the wife at the local Cineplex here in Burlington. Had a Metallica in the arcade area, two tokens per play. Fifteen tokens for five bucks. Seemed reasonable. Replay set really low and match percentage really high, so I still had a pocket full of tokens when I walked away, and...

Iconic Ann Arbor Pinball Pete flooded :(

Sad to see. I was there about a year back. Big selection of pins...MM, MB, AFM, TAF, G&R, etc. Upkeep of the games and facility itself left a bit to be desired, and it's a common complaint from the locals as well (I've heard "It ain't what it used to be" many, many times about the basement...

    Pinball Dedicated Podcasts

Finally got around to listening to Ep. 2 of the Pinheadz Podcast (linked above). WOW. Great production quality. Sounds more like a polished radio show than a podcast. Hosts have great chemistry, and are obviously passionate about the hobby. If you thought, as Canadians, we are...

    Stern Mustang Pinball Pics

Can't access that video at work...does it actually say Gomez is the designer? I will have to go back and read the note that Trudeau sent along with my Creech autograph, as he directly mentioned the Mustang and Walking Dead designs...I don't think he actually came out to *say* he was the...

    ACDC Pro Alternative Art Package

This Coop-inspired art package is the way to go...a step up from what was originally released. Stern must have thought this as well, as their Luci "re-theme" echoes the same sentiment. Folks are happy with their Shadow kits, hopefully this one is produced with the same care. As per...
