Ok cpu swapped and still have the same problem. I think it is safe to say that the problem is a short some place on the playfield or a wire harness someplace. Any ideas on how to narrow this down since I can't find anything on a visual inspection?
I may have to contact him, thanks. I think I will try my stern mpu-100 in the black jack first, I will just swap over the roms at U2 and u6. Hopefully the issue is not in the roms.
I was wrong it's still doing it with the lamp driver disconnected. I have checked again and there are no lamp sockets or wires touching any switch. Is it possible that I have a bad chip on the mpu that is causing this? I have already swapped u10 decoder. I'm going to double check all the...
Ok getting closer. If I disconnect all the connectors from the lamp driver board the issues goes away. If I connect just A4 to the lamp driver the issues comes back. A4 connector only goes to the transformer and the mpu.
Ok when I measure from the ground panel in the backbox to the metal roll over switches ( the part the ball contacts) I get between 1 and 2.5 volts A/C.
No connector work was done , just the header pins on the rectifier board. I agree it makes no sense but that's what is happening, I'm thinking of swapping in the transformer and rectifier board from the Stern Stars to see if the issue goes away, I think it is interchangeable.
I have checked every switch in the game and have found nothing shorting or touching them. The only other thing I have done ( that I haven't already undone) was rebuild the rectifier board. It got new rectifiers, header pins and did all the mods to it that were recommended on pinrepair.com...
I may have to check them but it's strange that they would all go. This is happening with all the rollovers. They are on different strobes and returns. This is a strange one!
Ok some weird shit going on here. If I close upper lane switches with my finger it shows the correct sw# but if I use the ball to close it,it shows multiple #'s, same thing for all the upper lanes.
All of the mods to the solinoid reg board and mpu have been undone. No fix. Maybe I should look at the rectifier board, I did a lot of work on it. Don't know if anything on there would cause an issue. This is getting frustrating.
