New Pinball Restoration Shop Being Built

Oh, I forgot to mention that our neighbourhood is one of those idyllic ones where many of the people are the same age, our kids growing up together and we cut each other's lawns and throw block parties. And it's an older neighbourhood, so many of us just wandered there from different points, or...

New Pinball Restoration Shop Being Built

Thank you for the interest, it's been a fascinating journey. It's hard to fathom the whole process until you live through it to see the evolution, so I wanted to document the process as much as possible. (Sorry I missed these posts, for some reason I must have the forum not set to email me on...

TIP PinballNinja.com site at 15% off

I'm a long time donor for sure, but I still miss the "original" pinrepair.com ... I owe most of my restoration skill and knowledge to Clay.

Best Dolly to Buy for moving pins?

Some other quick tips for appliance dollies and moving pins: if you tighten a strap and the buckle is up against a cabinet, it WILL scratch the cabinet unless you wrap the loose end of the strap around the buckle so as to cushion it away from the cabinet. Some people poo poo straps in a hurry...

Best Dolly to Buy for moving pins?

I've moved a lot of machines and an appliance dolly like the one illustrated at Princess Auto with the one-crank tightener is the one you want. It is easier to tighten / loosen the strap (which needs to be snug but not overtight - loose or too tight can damage soft rails) and more reliable in...

FS "Not Mine" Pinball Machines For Sale

There was a time when you couldn't give away a Slugfest, no matter what the condition is. I owned one, paid a whole whole lot less, in good condition, and I regret selling it on (went and bought a whack of collectible cards for it to dispense for my kids to win when they played). They didn't...

SOLD Black Rose - Bally 1992

Re: (Tentatively sold) Black Rose - Bally 1992 For future Black Rose owners, I have installed the Cliffy protector, and in my case it made levelling the cannon nearly impossible from then on (as hard as it is to level in the first place) - my Cliffy is coming out when I get time in the future...

TRANSLATION "Twilight Zone Pinball Project Machine $3500 Pinball machine needing repair I have started the project but don't have time to finish it." (This isn't my pinball to sell, I simply provided a translation but forgot to make that clear. LOL!)

    SOLD Gottlieb Rock

Re: FS: Gottlieb Rock - Sold pending pickup Figures that I've been looking for one of these for years, decide to stay away from temptation during our renovation and BOOM, a wonderful project gets offered up while I'm not looking. If the new owner tires of it or can't get it working, I'd love...

New Pinball Restoration Shop Being Built

Well, I am tooting my own horn a little bit, ok, a lot. But having turned 50 it just seemed like the right thing to do, finally. For the rest of my family, it's a renovation with a couple new bedrooms and a real 2nd floor added to a Post War 1.5 Storey with complete makeover. But for me, it's...

    Pinball cultural icons: Novus

I'm not using as much Novus as I used to since I started using this product: http://www.mothers.com/02_products/07100.html Mother's California Gold Step 1 (Even though I have a big jug of Novus 2 kicking around here somewhere...) I haven't done any scientific research to determine detriments...

FS "Not Mine" Pinball Machines For Sale

Re: Re: :| Not trying to be rude, but I too think that's exactly what Kijiji is and was meant to be. The electronic equivalent of "Buy and Sell." All the pain of negotiating, but without having to haul everything back inside when it rains. (scratching head)

    Backglass flaking repair

You may want to attempt to "re-glue" or "tack" the paint first, carefully using superglue from a syringe, carefully push down bubbles and edges (and then Triple Thick it afterwards). Spraying triple thick can "blow" paint flecks away. I've always done it this way (CA glues dry clear and thin...

    Introduce Yourself!

I'm Wayne, and I'm an addict. I haven't bought a pinball machine in about 4 months, and a year before that I think. Many of you know me as the resident curmudgeon webSherpa (or PinballIsNotDead) on MAACA. I mostly lurk here. I've seen happier times, weaned my collection down very reluctantly...

    Connect-A-Mat

You can also put a nut on the inside of the leg where the leveller comes through, that prevents the leveller from moving at all. Even with a tightened nut on the bottom, often after continuous bouncing, they just work loose and start to wind down, so I tend to double nut them (if the levellers...

    Spray Chrome

You can do an approximation of this technique on your own IF the underlying surface is polished well enough (the techniques I have tried use a finely polished surface, then a very smooth black gloss undercoat, the spray on chrome paint and then a clear coat). I borrowed technique from model...

Safe to hook up led strip lighting to game power supply?

Considering that two of them come to about 1 amp, and LEDs don't have much of a peak load, you should be able to tap into a 12 volt DC source without stressing the power supply. Just be aware that UV light fades red-based pigments...and it's not terribly good for your eyes....

Roller Games with a sound issue

If I could get another reasonable costing Rollergames in just about any condition, I would. I miss mine (as Spiroagnew knows all too well). It must be a very personal game, others among my friends hate it as a single player game.

    Spiroagnew's basement thread

Orange works. Warm colours work best in basements because cold colours make you feel cold. Usually that's why people go beige, it's brighter, warm, and they leave plain white or light blue for the ceiling to give the imagination a feeling that there is open space overhead. One thing for...
