Well, been in this hobby a approximately 15 months now......in total I've gone through 19 Pins, with 8 remaining in my collection today. Got to talking with some of the regular posters on PB Rev and they suggested I make a post here about my travels to look for the next pin. Living in Wasaga Beach, close proximity of pins that were on my wanted or "interested in" rarely come up (OK, one did LOTR in Barrie).

I could go on and on about what pins I got, why I didn't like them, why I kept the ones I did. But I think that each of us all have our own tastes and it's impossible to explain to someone for example, why I couldn't stand TAF, when TAF is such a popular game.

So, I thought for shits and giggles, I'd post strictly on how much travel I've done in 2014, for pins. When I calculated all my mileage, indeed, I thougt maybe I was insane! So here it is for all to see the levels of my insanity! I've just listed to the city where I either picked up the pin and/or where I delivered the pin to upon selling. Thats the other thing that sucks about living in Wasaga Beach! No one wants to come pick up a pin....and these weary old bones are getting too weak to continue to deliver pins!! LOL Here goes (in no particular order) with KM's posted in round trip:

TSPP - Picked up in Ottawa. 1124 KM
IM - Picked up in Mississauga, 270 KM. Sold and delivered to Whitby, 328 KM Total: 598 KM
SM - Picked up in Toronto, 262 KM. Sold and delivered to Mississauga, 270 KM. Total: 532 KM
TOM - Picked up just outside QC, 1830 KM
LOTR LE- Picked up in Maple 206 KM. Delivered to Gatineau, 1142 KM. Total 1348 KM
SS - Picked up in Stoney Creek, 376 KM
TAF - Picked up in Detroit, MI 936 KM. Sold and delivered to Maple 206 KM. Total 1142 KM
Tron - Picked up in Toronto, 262 KM. Sold and delivered to Vaughn, 208 KM. Total 470 KM
MB - Picked up in Brockport, NY, 686 KM
CFTBL - Picked up in Cornwall, NY 1710 KM
NGG - Picked up in Toronto 262 KM
IJ - Picked up in Westland, MI 1014 KM
TZ - Picked up in Markham, 252 KM
STTNG - Picked up in London, 580 KM

Thats a total of 11,924 KM's travelled for this crazy hobby. And thats just in 2014!! So, it's clear that one of the following apply:

A. I must get a larger vehicle and plan road trips a little better;
B. I am insane and I should check myself into a Mental Institution ASAP; or
C. I just love this hobby and a big part of it is the hunt for the titles I crave and having the willingness to drive where ever I need to in order to feed that hunger!!

I'm going to opt for C.

Well, here's to 2015. Happy New Year to all my fellow Revolutioners!

Happy New Year Reg, and to everyone else too!

Reg, you seriously put some miles on, but your game room is looking beautiful! Every time I refresh PBRev, it seems like you've added another to your stable!;)

Well done Reg. You had quite a year my friend.
You are not insane, but you have the disease many of us do.

You went out of your way to buy (pickup) and sell (deliver) your pins. Congrats.
You hunted with a passion; you obtained what you wanted and you kept what you loved.

You know you are not alone in the # of km's traveled to buy/sell pins, as you already know.
There are only a few dozen of us that do what you do, and agreed that it gets tired on the bones.

You are certainly way up there for the most km's traveled in 2014 Reg.

Enjoy your collection in 2015.
More playing! Some travel.

I know how you feel. I've been at it for less then a year and owned quite a bit. Sitting at 9 currently 10 if counting my predator. I live in cambridge and I've been to barrie 3 times, new market a couple of times, Toronto more then I can count. Been to london, hamilton twice and countless other location but I enjoy doing it. Just recently returned a T3 to a good buddy of mine. Luckily he's very close to me and it's nice to see it getting enjoy instead of sitting in storage until my renos are done. Heading to pittsburg this weekend to pick up a playfeild and watch a penguins game. Playfeild came first lol figured if I'm gonna drive there might as well make it worth it and bought hockey tickets too.

Update to the thread. Just got back from travelling to Lincolnshire, IL. Just north of Chicago for a Fish Tales. 1966 kms round trip. Also did a trip back in May. Travelled to Ann Arbor, MI, round trip 1072 Kms for The Shadow.

Clearly I'm still insane.

I will make a rare post even though I am "offline currently".
Reg, you are da man! I love that you go and "get"' a wanted machine.

You do it "just because" you want it and you will go the distance. Salut bro.

Well I really think I'm done with the road trips for the time being. Just need my MMRLE to fill the 10th and last spot. Of course.......I may end up swapping something out. Never say never I guess!! LOL

You are never done Reg as there will always be one more game out there you haven't played yet and will want in your collection.

Stern posted some pics over the weekend of KISS LE on the line and you can see here that MMR is not far behind or maybe next up in the queue.

Your not insane, you are a totally "normal" pinball guy, we all go through that madness in a way or another, I've been through Canada up to Calgary and the rocky mountains, went through just about every state in the U.S. up to California, I did about 300 thousand Kilometers with a trailer behind my car, bought about 100 different pinball machines and now about 10 years later I'm fed up of all those road trips, I feel like I'm too old for these.
Just an example of how my pinball road trips were: my trip to California was for 1 pin, a Williams Joust, I made the trip in 6 days to go and come back from Quebec city with my 2 sons (9 and 10 years old) and my wife, we slept at a hotel 2 nights only for 5 hours, the rest of the trip was swapping drivers when one of us was tired.:(
And I won't explain all of the troubles I've had on a few trips........

NEVER AGAIN I said to myself, well I've made many other trips afterwards........:(
"Insane" is a precise term for this hobby.
I think that I've learned since.......I hope so.
But, I've got to say that I've seen many beautiful sights from across America by doing these trips.:)

Sounds like a pretty normal entry in to the hobby tome, if you have the means. Some titles that everyone likes (or some people like) but you don't at first eventually grow on you, others fade rather quickly depending on your skill level and interests. For some hobbyists playing is more important than fixing, for others the opposite, and for some it is about owning and displaying a piece of history that fascinates many.
