Bally Wiring harness Replacements

Just wondering if anyone could help?
I'm looking to replace many wire harness connectors on an old Bally FB2. Where is the best place to get replacements, and is there a kit available??

Do you mean the backbox connectors? I believe Marco has kits available for that generation of pins.

Mostly the connectors that attach to the driver/MPU boards. Looking for sources in Canada, parts store or private individuals.

If you're looking for the female connectors that go into the header pins on the boards, I think digi-key carries what you need... but you'll need to know what size and format is required.
I would avoid using the older (stock) IDC or displacement type and upgrade to trifuricon crimp terminals and housings.

For connectors that don't necessarily go to a board, Molex makes a wide assortment you can use. Also available at the above supplier I believe.

Mouser electronics may be another option.

If I just took the board to an electronic place would that suffice to get the right type of connectors?
I'd be there all day trying to explain what I need and I'd' want to do the change one wire by one wire.

I have some burnt spots on the original connectors on J1 and J3 on the driver board in particular. Looks to be about 20+ wires per connector. I have a few bulbs not working, but I unplugged the harness and grounded those wires and some of the bulbs light, so I might have a bad transistor on the board to replace also. I'm still having a learning curve here.

if the housing is only discoloured and not broken , only replace the pins. crimp on new ends depending on what you need. If the housing is broken or brittle replace it as well. If you buy a crimper you must buy a ratchet style.

I just discovered two bad transistors, I hope to change today


Update: I only had one transistor in stock of the right number, but I now have the most important lights working at the Odin and Wotan qualifier targets. A couple more random lights to go. Bummer, I broke more drop targets again today, soon running out of spares, I really must buy that new set.

Old targets just get brittle. Once they start to go, the others aren't far behind. Invest in the new set. It's probably only about $3 per target anyway.

Classic Bally/Stern games of this era are very easy to work on and generally pretty satisfying.

I do find the old Bally's way more easy to fix than the old Williams I have here. I was surprised how much fun Fireball is, once I got it back together.
I recently added a brand new AFMLE, but I was totally absorbed with my 40 year old pin most of the day last weekend. I found a complete populated PF in the US (lucky find) with only minor art damage. I cleaned, did touch ups, and clear coated and put her in. I think I am liking it. It was meant to be a flipper but I just might keep her (unless I get a good offer). I downloaded the 3D file so I'm going to try to print a drop target just for fun.
