Although I have every reason to believe this machine could be brought back into service, the playfield is very rough with lots of crazing and wear around the pop bumpers from the floating mylars. There are some slightly raised inserts. The pictures make the crazing appear worse than it looks in person, but it's still significant. There is some insert wear, and wear at the top of the playfield window.

The rear right inside cabinet has been repaired by clamping the cabinet and gluing it with carpenter's glue. It is quite strong now. Some of the leg-bolt plates inside we're replaced also.

The cabinet has wear which would be considered normal for a machine of this age.

You may want to consider this machine for parts. The electronics in the head are fully working.

That's a decent price Bish. As bad as the crazing is on this BH, it is VERY typical of almost every BiH I've seen to have this issue. (some are worse than others) Where you've done most of the work, this would be a great player for anyone looking to get into a BH for very little money that might have been on the fence about doing all the mod work.

Good luck!

Agreed.
The mod work on system 80s sounds like a bear. The fact that he's already done all of it is fantastic.
This would definitley make a solid player and, with a little ingenuity and touch-up, I think it could be a pretty clean machine. I think a lot of those close-ups make it seem much worse than it would appear in real life... but good for Bish for providing high detail.

Good luck.

Bish,
You tempt me greatly. I wish I could, but with the space limitations I have currently, (urk) I just don't have the space to do it. (or time now too)
Someone will, and will be very happy with the results. The re-pin issues that you have already done would have been the biggest challenge for me.
Good luck with the sale. All the best to the seller and to the new purchaser.

Good question.

I think it's pretty close. All of the electronics in the head have been repaired and work. The pop bumper boards under the playfield have all been repaired / tested. The disc spins and the infinity lights around the back glass sequence. The speech works.

It's missing a coil somewhere towards the rear of the playfield. I believe the playfield would work if it was plugged in, but I haven't tested it. All of the playfield connectors have been repinned.

I've added a new interconnect cable in the head between the boards (more reliable).

So...other than not knowing what issues you might find with the playfield itself, I think it should be pretty easy to put the game back into service.

Of course, the price reflects its "project" state, and the risk or time involved for you in getting it up and running. Working, I believe the game sells in good condition for around $1100. Remember, there are a lot of "value features" on this game like brand new legs ($80?), new pop bumper caps, new drop targets, working score displays in the head (I had to find replacements for $50 each, as some were missing), and all the repinning (easily 30 or 40 hours of work you don't have to do).

Hi Bish

Would you get offended if i offered you $850 and then parted it out for more and use that money to put towards another game?

Not a bad idea Mike.

I'm actually about to start restoring a BH myself. If you wanna go in together on it I'd be happy to take soem of the parts and help you sell off the rest.

Seems a shame though. It's not exactly a parts machine with all that's already gone into it.

If i let you keep the playfields will you take $800?? Let me know mmmmkay :)

All jokes aside, Bish if you can't get $800 for this i would suggest a part out and much like most pins it is worth more apart then together as I see $1200 value here.

I'm totally prepared to part it out if it comes right down to it. Spinning discs, infinity backglasses, etc are worth lots, as they're unobtanium unless someone parts a machine out.

Even the boards are difficult to find.

I hate to do it, but whatever gets it gone the fastest is how it's going to be.

Bish you got no scruples, I offered you more and you honored your original lower asking price lol. Good luck and hope it all works out and this Black Hole doesn't get parted out and brought back to life again.

For those who have never dealt with Bish before he is a stand up guy and too honest seller of a seller and I probably would have left then playfield glass on in some of the pics :) I have bought two games from Bish and owned 3 games that use to belong to him and were all great.
