If you got the time and patience you can probably get FutureShop to price match and beat by 10% and get it for $8.49 :p

Fine you want a better deal? Walmart has Energizer 16 pack of AA for $8 and comes with a free movie pass (Mon-Sun) valued @ $14

End of July. Every pin, even when (all of them except one) they haven't been here a year yet.

That's scary. Still can't believe the turnover this year.

Excited when I opened up my recent container game to find a remote battery holder already installed! Some Italians DO love their pingames! Put in a fresh set though, anyhow. Still using a Costco pack I picked up when they were on sale. Kids toys go through a ton of batteries so they are good to have around.

This reminds me I've been meaning to install a remote battery pack on my tales from the crypt. I already bought one but I've been pushing it back because I keep telling myself I'll buy one of those battery eliminator nvram chips to install. Sure can buy a lot of AA batteries for $30 though... decisions decisions.

I've had a few games folded for a while and should really get on this too.
It randomly pops into my head but, with the renos and move, I just haven't had time or space to set up games.

Probably te first thing ill be doing across the board in the coming weeks after I get all the pins in.

Does anyone know the deal on these newer flat stern batteries? Same thing; change once a year?

I used to do it every year, now with 30+ pins I can't, it's too expensive.

I've started doing it every 2 - 3 years now, and have been asking for AA batteries for Christmas.

You can buy the Panasonic AA's for $1.00 for a 4 pack at Dollarama. $23 should cover 30 games but these cheap batteries will probably leak within a few weeks anyways so better to take your chances with Duracell :D

As long as you don't cheap out with batteries, the good ones should last you at least a couple years. The current draw required to keep the ram backed up is minimal. If you really wanted to protect your games from leaky batteries you could always use Lithium AA instead of the standard Ni-Cad.

Adam's game play style and ongoing pin maintenance are a perfect match.

Risk vs. Reward

Do I risk hundreds or potential thousands of dollars over time on replacement rotten dog boards from battery damage or paying someone like Menace for board repairs or do I spend the $80-90/year to change my batteries

I change them out once a year with decent batteries, but keep the batteries I pull out for other stuff. They still have enough juice to run things like my wireless mouse, a game controller, or some other random toy.
