Game 20! Here's Johnny... and More!

2015 is turning out to be a very busy year! With this email, ColorDMD announces it's 20th multicolor title and 6th new title release in 3 months! We also announce the release of the color ROM for Monopoly pinball machines and provide a video link. And finally announce the update of all ROMs to 3.X, and pack them with new features! So without further ado...

HERE'S JOHNNY!
ColorDMD is excited to announce Johnny Mnemonic as the 20th supported title for the ColorDMD platform! Johnny is the first title to be colorized by pinball enthusiast and freelance web designer, Jeff Roberts, and culminates our blitz of 2014 developer project releases!

Jeff operates his own web design business in Kansas, where he lives with his wife and 5 children. Jeff's wife is a big supporter of the hobby and bought him his first pinball machine. Since then Jeff has taken to restoring and selling games, and is working on developing and releasing some new mods for pinball!

Jeff also had the distinction of being the "dots guy" for the Marriot Hotel light shows in downtown Kansas City. You can check out some of his work here!

Johnny runs on the same SIGMA hardware display platform used for all previous releases, and is compiled on the 3.x version of the ColorDMD rendering engine that supports 6 distinct rendering modes including high-resolution upscaling.

Hardware is shipping now from our website, and the color ROM release for Johnny Mnemonic pinball machines is targeted by April 2, 2015.

Johnny will be previewed this weekend at the Texas Pinball Festival, so be on the lookout if you're attending the show!

ALL ROMS UPDATED!

This week we have updated all supported ROMs to the new ColorDMD version 3 coloring engine. The version 3 engine adds extended backlight and contrast controls, and provides a choice of six different rendering modes:
  • Classic Dots
  • DOTXL for bigger, brighter dots
  • HIRES for high resolution upscaling
  • SCAN uses high resolution upscaling and adds a textured scan line effect
  • TILE for a grid-like appearance, and
  • 8-BIT style square pixels
These new features are freely available from our site and work with all ColorDMD displays. Older displays (purchased prior to May 2013) may require a product key update after installation of the new color ROM. Instructions for key updates are also available on our SUPPORT page.

Thank you as always for your continued interest and support! For more information, please visit us at www.colordmd.com.
