Container Pins Discussion

Good Morning,

Just for shits and giggles, I reached out to a European pinball enthusiast about the going rate for container pins. The list below has been converted to CAD based on today's rate, and does not include shipping or taxes.

No screaming deals, but interesting nonetheless.

just a note/fyi in case you missed it .. its an xls file so you need some spreadsheet software or head on over to google sheets.

there have been a few people that have done container deals , some have worked out and others have not , these are usually not the best of the best and require work and a lot of cleaning . But most concerning is you basically have little info on condition and virtually very few good pictures .You then get what shows up, the best deals are the ones that you can feel and touch in the flesh

Picked up my Road Show and Revenge From Mars for $1500 each on those container deals about 4 years ago. RS needed A TON of help, but RFM only needed a monitor service, so I think I was about even overall on the deal.

As it stands now, container deals to North America are dead, unfortunately. However, it's still a viable option for pinball-starved Australia...they still import containers of games from Europe due to the small number of games in their homeland.

Thinking aloud: I'm wondering if there would be any way to make it more viable with a set of North American eyes on the ground overseas? Someone who could go to these European warehouses in person, pay cash, observe the loading of the container (to avoid the bait and switch substitution of games), and most importantly, examine the games and provide collectors back home a realistic description of how good/bad the games are. The stars would have to align for this to happen, but it was something that crossed my mind after locating a former operator in Poland with a nice stash of games he was looking to sell...and having some family over there I'd be visiting in the near future. A lot of work to re-import a bunch of shitty projects, and not the kind of thing I'd want to be doing while visiting family....unless a steal of a deal could be found.

these prices are way too high for container pins. once you factor in the cost of shipping and taxes you can buy locally.
