THE PLAYFIELD RUN OF THE DECADE !PREORDER AND WAITING LIST GROUP PREVIEW PAGE !
Time to get excited, folks! Finally after 2 years of collecting names, gathering the materials,
expanding our run length efforts, and allocating the massive production schedule,
we're moments away from seeing this playfield run launch and ship.
TAF will engulf CPR from September to November 2017, as our actively shipping playfield !

** SHIPPING BEGINS SEPTEMBER 8, 2017 **
NOW FOR SOME EXCITING PRODUCTION NOTES
THAT WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY !
TAKING THE TIME TO GET IT RIGHTWe're thrilled to offer the definitive TAF reproductionThe best TAF reproduction ever done
PAST OR PRESENT. PERIOD.
The previously produced non-CPR runs in 2003 and 2006 had their notable design flaws,
including CNC errors such as missing bevels, incorrect bits used to cut openings shapes
(wide rounded corners instead of sharp corners), "foggy" insert clarity, lightweight (cheap)
gameboard wood, incorrect colors such as orange not being a true florescent,
and missing the "paisley rug" pattern, etc. NOT THIS TIME !
THE 2017 CPR TAF REPRODUCTION WILL FEATURE:
- OUR BEST GAMEBOARD WOOD - EVER ( custom 17/32 genuine gameboard panels produced in the USA, with our current CPR-exclusive
layering specifications of Maritime Hard Rock Maple & Hard Ash plys )
- our playfields will be 3-6 pounds heavier than previous TAF playfields, repro or original
( depending on variety - TAG, Sun Process, Lenc-Smith, IPB, or Mirco Germany )
- Inserts from the original Chicago tooling (some of the lost molds found only 2 years ago!)
- ORIGINAL WILLIAMS ARTWORK from the actual factory films( every detail will be exact, and we mean identical, to an original TAF playfield.
Only CPR holds the films at this point in time, and we've had them secure in our possession
for the last 2 years, and still do. NOT a digital vector redraw on this one! )
- EXACT ORIGINAL COLORS( with original films, comes original color notations! The mystery to "pick" colors based on NOS samples,
or past compromises to choose colors for reproduction didn't happen for TAF... the Williams films note the
original Pantone spot colors intended for every layer ! )
- LAB MIXED INKS ( since TAF was such a significant and important run to the hobby, we didn't take this project lightly.
Often we mix our own inks in-house, but for TAF we went beyond the norm. Using the original Pantone colors
noted on each factory film, we had the lab at the ink factory do a pro-level mixing of a custom TAF ink set
for us to use. It means that CPR's colors on this release will be 99.95% exact to the official
Pantone standard (by mix and densitometer reading) to the intended Pantone colors noted
on the Williams films. "Dead-On" original colors will be an understatement with this one ! )
- FLORESCENT ORANGE( also known as "Hot Orange" or "Hunter/Safety Orange", is the official Williams color for the TAF orange layer...
Many do not realize this, as most original playfields have long lost the "heat" in their orange.
This was missed on the previous reproduction efforts, and printed with a bright standard orange - zero florescence.
The CPR playfields were printed with a (freaking expensive) custom-mixed genuine phosphor-based
florescent orange enamel - so gorgeous and hot, that the camera cannot do it justice. )
- TWEAKED ALIGNMENT( with factory films comes historical alignment imperfections to openings and holes, as they didn't care much
back then about small alignment details. Since we couldn't make small moves with things on the artwork,
since we cannot alter the films, we took the time to tweak the CNC cutfile instead, and make small improvements.
In essence, we made our CNC cut "match" the artwork, rather than the other way around.
This means bulb holes, etc, are centered inside their black rings better than original.
Of course, we didn't tinker with the official location of openings for mechanical parts ! )
- PAISLEY RUG PATTERN( this was seemingly flubbed, missing or weak, on many TAF playfields of the past - factory original or repro alike.
This was due to a layering trick Williams put into their original films, which we discovered once we had them.
With CPR having the factory films, AND using the proper printing technique, the paisley pattern comes out
distinct and correct, as intended by Williams. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case for many TAF playfields
in the past, depending on where they were produced )
- RECLAIMED BAR CODE BLOCK( As we all know, the TAF playfield features a block-out (rectangle) in the left outlane. This was historically used
as a spot to apply a decal/sticker for a regional bar code. Since this function is completely irrelevant today,
and would leave an ugly purple box (which yes, is still sitting there on the original films), we decided to
superimpose our own TAF logo design into the film layering (without harming the original film) and print
this into the Bar Code Block. We think it looks way better than blank, hovers right near the Part Number
where the game name usually goes anyway, and will also identify the provenance of the playfield forever
as the CPR 2017 TAF repro )
