So think I'm finally going to take the plunge on one of these.

I know the Hakko 808 is supposed to be the best but it has been discontinued.

The replacement for the Hakko 808 is the Hakko F/R 300

But I saw this as well:

I'm leaning toward the second one since it has the temperature control.

But also looking for suggestions.

Also are there any Canadian retailers that sell these?

I have the 808 and it changed my life. Remove chips in a minute, resistor and caps in seconds. Also great for re-flowing header pins with fresh solder. Make sure you order some additional tips and filters.

You can't buy the 808 anymore

I got the 300 a few months ago. I love it. works so fast. It was alot more then I wanted to spend but after you use it the first time you'll realize it was worth it.

Yea I've already been using it a bunch, it's awesome, no more fighting with pins, no more fighting with solder getting it out of the holes.

I did the full 40 pin interconnect on a williams with ease.
