I was thinking about getting insurance for/on my pinball machines. I have house insurance but I don't really know if it would cover the pinballs? I'm amusing if I report about the pinballs my insurance would go up annually, but never inquired yet. Has anyone called and asked or have insured there pinball machines? what does it cover? (I know every insure will be a bit different) Mainly worried about flooding, I dont think anybody would steal the pinball machines from the basement (take them apart then bring them up the stairs) Just trying to see if it worth insuring or not.....

I had a nice conversation with my agent about my games years ago, and while I could have purchased a separate ryder specificaly for my games it was horrendously expensive to do so. What we ended up doing was tacking on extra household contents coverage by an amount that *should* cover the cost of my collection if it were to be a total loss situation. Where a lot of the games are not new and were not purchased from a retailer (no receipts) they said to have detailed records of the games in my collection with pictures etc. What you need to check into with that type of covereage is should you have a loss claim what type of events are covered (fire, theft, flood etc) as not all policies are created equal.

It's been a long time since I've discussed this with my agent, I should proably re-visit this...

I spoke to my home insurer last year and inquired about optional riders for my pinball machines. I was told, after the agent double checked because I clarified that they are commercial coin operated machines, that my pins are covered under the policy without additional riders. My policy provides me coverage to a total dollar value, and the only thing I had to evaluate was if my policy limits were high enough.

I have good photos of my collection to prove that I actually own these pins, in the event of a loss.

This doesn't mean that your policy is the same. Everyone should speak to their insurer to find out their specific policy provisions.
