IMG_5022L.jpg IMG_5022L.jpg Hi,

I need some help with an issue with my Evel Knievel machine.

It stopped working but all the lights come on. the manual says if the red light in the electronics flashes less then 7 times the module is faulty. Excuse my naivety but what's the module?? Is it the board?? And where can I buy one and what are they worth??
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers Molloy

Top left board is the MPU, there is an LED towards the bottom of it, you should see it flashing when you turn the machine on, something like this:

Replacement boards are available but there is a lot of troubleshooting you can do before having to replace it. Have you looked at this site:

Yes I get the flash but only 5 times the manual says its suppose to be more and if not it's the module? I'm far from a techie in this field just a novice. Looks like I might have to fork out the money and get someone to look at it, I was hoping there was a quick answer?? Repair people are not so common is Australia and they tend to sting you.
Thanks fro the info..

Number of Bally MPU LED Flashes, what they mean, and what is wrong if not completing individual flashes are well described on the internet now (partly covered in the manual).
Two examples here:
http://techniek.flipperwinkel.nl/ballyss/rep/index2.htm#flash
https://www.flippers.com/bally-tips.html

Wrong number of flashes and not booting are often due to battery corrosion damage on the board, an intermittent chip socket, or a bad chip - some of this can be repaired, some easily, and other issues need someone with proper expertise.

Make sure you count the flashes correctly.
If it were 6 flashes instead for instance, this would mean that the +43V solenoid voltage is not detected by the MPU - often due to a burned 1A slow blow fuse under the playfield, a poor/weakened fuse holder, or old fuse that simply gave up. More often caused by a locked ON coil, due to a shorted drive transistor on the Solenoid Driver board (and often burned coil if the machine was overfused).

Good luck!
-Sylvain.
