"a product that is designed for use by children under 14 years of age in learning or play"

I pray this law does not pass.
As a retailer, it is an absolute nightmare.
We will have to check 75,000 products manually to see what qualifies and update the tax on each one individually.
Then we will have to do it again in 2 months.
We will be increasing all our prices to compensate all the extra hours of work need to do this.
This government is completely f**kin insane.

The video games section is broken out / separate from the 14 Year old Children subsection. It's worded on the gov't website in a way that might include pinball in physical game media. When paying import duty on used parts it's classified as video games;
  • Select children’s toys: a product that is designed for use by children under 14 years of age in learning or play and that is:
    • a board game or card game (e.g., a strategy board game, playing cards, or a matching/memory card game);
    • a toy that imitates another item (e.g., a doll house, a toy car or truck, a toy farm set, or an action figure);
    • a doll, plush toy or soft toy (e.g., a teddy bear); or,
    • a construction toy (e.g., building blocks, such as Lego, STEM assembly kits, or plasticine).
  • Jigsaw puzzles, for all ages.
  • Video-game consoles, controllers or physical game media (e.g., a video-game cartridge or disc).

I've been helping people "save" GST on their NIB purchases for a while now even before Liberals were in power :p

This latest Liberal vote buying scheme hasn't even been passed yet. As a matter of fact nothing is getting passed right now, because the HOC is paralysed while the Liberals refuse to hand over the documents for their 400 million dollar slush fund, the SDTC scandal. We will see if Yankmeat (sellout Singh) can save Trudy again.
Trudeau needs to step down now, this man-child government is a national embarrasment and is totally screwing up the economy with massive debt.

Bah. I think it's more of a comment about how tiring it is to constantly read the same 3-4 conservative fanatics pushing their propaganda here all the god damn time and in all the god damn threads. Give us a fucking break and let's get back to pinball. Go push it on FB.

Isn't life divisive enough already?

This isn't about conservatives vs liberals or politics. It's about keeping this forum relevant and on the subject for which it was created. PINBALL!

It's possible and that would be huge boon if pinball is included.
Pinball machines are NOT video games as they are classified separately when importing them.
Coin operated video games are also classified differently then home video game software.
So, 2 strikes.
I would say there is basically no chance of pinball qualifying and what dealer is willing to take the risk of being on the hook for the taxes that he did not charge the customer.
3 strikes.

Are we adults here? You could have ignored my comment rather than wrongly call it propaganda, when "facts" was the correct word you should have used.
My comment was completely relevant to this topic regarding the supposed Trudeau had outs, and loopy temp tax break. Which by the way will cost tax payers 6 billion dollars in national debt. But this little handout will be over shadowed by the new yearly Carbon insanity tax increase in the spring.

Ooowww scary MAGA lets go unhinged. You guys are nuts. Sorry for all the triggered Libs losing their shit. I would honk my horn but you may have a meltdown. Seek help.
Note, if you get jittery from my comments, take deep breaths and relax. Oh and maybe go play a game of Pinball. Or, simply ignore me if I make you twitchy for insulting the Dear Leader, the whole world feels the same way about this Marxist Ken doll, Trudeau.

I come here to talk about pinball with other players and owners. There are plenty other places I can go to debate politics, I really don't want to do it here. This is the place I come to talk about the hobby that brings me joy.

There's a whole off-topic forum section here, could we at least try and keep political comments and discussion in that section?

So on a similar topic of no GST, I did save taxes twice earlier this year. CBSA was doing pressure tactics for union negotiations and weren't collecting taxes on shipped items for a few weeks at least. Didn't know about it or plan it but timing is everything I guess... Got my Scooby topper tax free :)

Can't remember what the second thing was but it was a significant savings as well. Not a full machine though unfortunately.
