I've read about 6 in the series by Lee Childs. Loved them! (although they got a wee bit repetitive which is why I haven't read all in the series)
Was really really looking forward to the film... and then Hollywood went and cast goddamned Tom Cruise as the lead.
Jack Reacher in the books: 6'5", about 225, blonde and blue eyes, quiet, very unassuming - super tough guy who never looks for trouble but always 'finishes it,' about 37 yrs old in the first books.
Tom Cruise: 5'7", about 170lbs, dark hair and eyes, can play nothing less than a prima donna self centred action hero of sorts, is 50 yrs old.
Hmmm....... not really what anyone was expecting. Also odd that the movie is based on like the 8th book in the series. Weird.
Haven't seen it yet, but will definitely go soon, even if it is Cruise. Hope for the best, I guess.
