*edit* after a bit of looking, I see that this is based on the movie poster artwork from the various films. Great work putting them to use, HUGE improvement over the stock translite!

Since I am new to the hobby, please excuse my inexperience, I have seen a few mods with names/art/logos that are copy right. Is there anything special that has to be done to be able to sell those types of mods?

Just asking cause I have no idea and love the different mods out there and would be nice to contribute to the community, but the copyright aspect always scared me. Thanks

I personally wouldn't care about putting unlicensed reproduced artwork into my own machine for personal use. I'd also personally share any artwork derived from unlicensed prior works that I created.

I definitely wouldn't be producing/profiting from that artwork though, but as a hobbyist, I'm glad that others are.

Usually I suspect it's "don't get caught". If you're making stuff for personal use, and not selling it, that's one thing. When you're charging though? I remember Brock got a Cease & Desist for using Marvel characters on shooter rods back in the day. Once you get big enough, someone will notice and enforce their IP rights. I don't know where the line between "fair use" and "trademark infringement" is exactly, but it's probably going to come down to who has the more expensive lawyer.

There are cases (like things that Stern sells) that are officially licensed/cleared, but I have no idea how many mod makers are licensing their stuff.

The bummer about this sort of stuff is that IP rights holders may not want to chase after the little guy, but they're obligated to, otherwise they risk losing their rights to defend against larger more relevant infringements.
