I use this stuff Barry:

Its a 50/50 mix with hot water and the max cycle on my USC is 480 seconds so that is what I run it at.

You can get that stuff at CDN Tire

Adam, try dropping the mix to 90/10 or 80/20 and use the hottest water from the tap. My USC experience is showing a hotter temp and % dilution works better and saves $$$.

My USC has a built in heater to keep it hot, but I could try and dilute it more

Agree with this. I've been using a USC for about 3+ years now and I think they work best with a higher percentage of water. I use the exact same degreaser and don't rely on the built-in heater (takes too long). I just fill it with the hottest water I can and maybe 1 cap full of degreaser per litre of water.
I can leave mine on for 15min or longer so I just default to that and then rinse the part(s) with clean water to release whatever sludge is sitting on the surface before hand drying with a microfibre cloth.

It's worked great on plastics, metals, PCBs and even fabric! It made the ribbon for my Centigrade 37 thermometer like new. You can also leave the solution in the USC for a few days or longer if it's not overly dirty.

Nice to see another JP getting some new life. It's one of my favorite games!

Yeah, heat is essential with USC. I finally found a decent size industrual Branson USC with a 1 hour timer and built in heater, and the longer timer and built in heater to keep the hot water hot all the time has proved to work wonders.

I've been really happy with the results I get with the 480 seconds that is the max for the timer on my USC. I don't know how much more dirt it could remove if I left it in there for an hour.

But yea I know heat is important, I've always used water this is as hot as possible out of my tap, plus making sure the heater is on to keep it hot.

But I will try and dilute down the solution and see if I get similar results.

I recently just bought a package of the USC cleaning agent from Art @ Comet. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet...

I've never used my USC timer for the full hour, but it's nice to know I have the option.

I bought some USC cleaner from Harbor Freight when I picked up the unit, I was underwhelmed by the it.

When I found that grease cleaner at CDN Tire and gave it a try is when I saw the drastic change in results.

This is the example I like to use:

It's saved me so much money I figure, I used to buy all new parts for my shop out jobs, new posts, pop bumper bodies, everything. Now I just cheap out and clean them up.

When the results are like above why bother spending the cash on new stuff.

Ok, but do you have a pic of the USC cleaner vs the grease cleaner? You're only showing me a pre-cleaned vs post cleaned. I have been using spray9 in my USC until now with great results (diluted of course) but figured I'd try the powder from Art too just to see the results.

I really should bite the bullet and get one of these fancy USC. Probably use it a ton.

What make/model should I buy for use on pinball parts?
