Come on... the new one looks way better...... and the old one only played "Rock and Roll All Night" with pathetic electronic chimes at start up....
The new one is going to have a 10 inch sub-woofer in it and play 10 original songs...... BAM!
I'm with Dan on this one. The new game could have a big flaming turd on the backglass and playfield, and it will be miles ahead of the original.

Just the translite looks nicer on the Bally. If you look at their facial expressions on the Stern especially Paul Stanley, he just looks retarded. I guess its kinda accurate.
And he should have way more gray chest hair on the Stern translite....lol
That must be why they went with an artists impression of the band on the game - take a look at the Gene and the rest of the band..... those guys are ripped! They never had biceps like that even in the 70's....pleeeeeease. Superman and Batman would even be jealous..... in fact they all look body builders.

I think the fire coming out of Gene's mouth is odd. Looks like the physics of something my three-year-old would draw.
Actually that's a good point, the fire is behind his right hand.. So technically it's coming out from the side of his face.
The proportions in general were better on the original.
That said it won't take long for someone to make an alternate with the original art.
The PF looks great though... The hand drawn art is very refreshing.

I really don't know what artist Stern used for their translite but see what I mean when you look at their faces and yes the fire is coming out of Gene's cheek.

if I owned the original Bally, Id be cheesed off. I guess that is why they are all up for sale for unsuspecting suckers. Nice...
I like Kiss for what they were, saw them live, but this...ugh. ...that translit, the bally one is nicer. If they had an LCD screen across the back of the play field that had video of their concert flame explosions and possible other cool visuals triggered by gameplay, now that would be tempting...

I still don't get the appeal of the original, but I guess you had to be there? As for the new game...meh. Theme doesn't do anything for me, music will be OK at least, but that giant head... I suppose the only thing we can say for sure is that it'll ship with skeletal code, and may or may not ever get finished.

Here you can see how a diverter opens to allow the ball to travel to the back board where it "flys" over the crowd and then lands on a special platform, then dropping into the Starchild area where it will exit under the legs of the animated Starchild figure.

This was posted on their FB page after a few people probably made a similar comment:
Some of you might care to know the following.
This was the first game ever played on a assembled machine from our factory. The machine was not on legs but was rather on one of our assembly carts. The game had no adjustments whatsoever so things like the speed in which the ball shoots out of the mouth are not necessarily reflective of what the final version will be. This video was simply intended to show how the ball moves around the playfield and how some of the shots can be hit.
Certainly you can expect more high definition gameplay videos as the days and weeks go on. Thank you for your interest.
