I grew up in the Kingston area and can attest to this. I wanna say the only games on location currently are at the movies, or a pizza shop. Pretty pathetic for a city of nearly 140,000 people.

Barcadia was super disappointing to me on the couple occasions I went there. It was just the old and broken games I remembered from 501 Video in high school.

I can't say anything about Kingston Billiards, but judging from the lack of transparency on pricing on their website, that's a major red flag.

501 Video and Studio 801 were my stomping grounds as a teenager.

I went to Frontenac high school so we walked over to Studio 801 almost every day to play in the arcade. Cataraqui Town Center on the weekends... Great memories!

It’s definitely sad Kingston doesn’t have something. Barcadia was supposed to move to a different location but it fell through. I wasn’t surprised because the owners while being nice just had no money to invest in anything decent. I totally agree about Kingston billiards, crazy overpriced and still have pinballs from when they first opened up. I have lived in Kingston my whole life. Totally remember the 501 video days, arcade in the old Kingston centre, games/ arcade at queen’s and arcade in the ambassador hotel. I ended up buying all the pinballs from guy running the arcade at the ambassador when I started collecting. Still have the getaway and terminator that I use to play when I was a teenager.

And what do you still have?
I'm hoping prices back to pre covid. I'd buy some system 11s or maybe 1 newer one.
And kingston billiard. That guy can suck it. Never go back there again.
Hes got tons of bs stories. 8 warehouses of games. Swamped with sales. Bla bla bla. But can't find one part when you ask.
But will let you play his games for $25hr. Lol pass.
I'd rather see some club or something with just a group of people.

It's too bad about Barcadia - you are right though, owner had no money. I suggested getting a couple of newer better pins and he told me that was totally unfeasible.

501 Video and the Studio 801 arcade were my stomping grounds in high school. I went to Frontenac so we used to walk there and play at lunch. That's cool you still have those games!

$25 for 1 hour??? That's crazy.

Prices are still a bit sticky but there are some system 11 deals out there sometimes.

I'm guessing or using historical information about buying and selling and economics.
If the economy tightens more you may see those 1 time covid buyers hoping to just sell. Older pin owners selling in a bad economy may reduce some pricing. Pre covid prices were where I tjink we could end up with a lot of want items. Not need items.

I can understand complaining about food prices, gas, services, etc but I do find it odd to see so many ppl complain about stupid prices (esp on Pinside) on these luxury items. Seriously nobody NEEDS commercial entertainment devices in their homes. It's just fun to have and relive our childhood - I get it. But when the prices get too steep then just pass and move on to something less expensive. I dropped out of the pinball world from 2009-2019 because I couldn't afford it and I honestly didn't miss it at all. Now that I'm back (with a pinball loving wife too) I'm "all in" obviously but I'm pretty sure I could move on from collecting games fairly easily and not look back.

I had 1 pin in the early 2000s and didn't come back until 4 years ago. Now that I have made a number of pinball friends, I doubt I will leave again though I could go back to 1-2 pins as there are a few more barcades around now.

You're fortunate to have places around you with machines. My area has nothing. When I lived in Chatham, the machines they had there was the definition of operator negligence. So it got me into buying machines for home. Now that they're at home, and everything works and looks exactly as it should pretty much 100% of the time I don't think I could go back to not owning them.

I wouldn't complain on someone's ad either. Move on if it's too much.
If it sells it sells or if it doesn't you'll lower the price or not??
Lots of pins hanging around for months unsold. As a seller if your not in a rush good for them. I just had a txt to buy someone's premium for 11k. They were asking a lot more. When I offered $11k it a while ago they could have sold it. Now I've moved on. And no I'll will. GLWS is all I say.
Timing is everything

I have a couple. The Getaway, Addams Family, Dr Who, Terminator 2, Star Trek NG, Jurassic Park DE version, Simpsons Pinball Party. Never really got into older stuff I guess it’s because they were mostly all dmd when I was younger and I like the bigger screens. My collection is mostly all games I loved playing when I was younger except for Simpsons. I would really like to get a newer game but I find it hard to choose a specific title. When I go to places out of town on vacation and play it’s really hard to hear the sound track/ sounds so don’t really get the full experience. Part of me really wants to get a brand new in box and have the experience of that but definitely would need to be sure on the title.

Getaway is fun. I Played it once and my wife enjoyed it as well.
Some great titles.

Nice collection!

I like playing older games a lot but I don't want to own them. They don't have the same depth and longer term appeal for me.

NIB modern games is pretty sweet. So sweet in fact that now I have 4 newer Sterns, although the other 3 were bought used.
