Monte Carlo Ramp Issues!

Hey Folks, when my "Monte Carlo" pin is off the ramp is in the down position and when the pin is turned on it goes to the up position. I have tried everything I can think of in game play to get it to work with no success. The coil is warm/hot after I play so I'm guessing it's not supposed to be this way. I have cut and checked the diode
It is good. I am new at this and I can't seem to locate the transistor thru the schematics as a possible suspect. If anyone knows which board and area to check that would be a great help. Just as a foot note the three prong coil and the switch
set up do not match the ones in the manual. This manual did not come with the machine I got got it on line. I will attach some pictures for reference.
It all looks good just not the same as the manual. Maybe a production change at the manufacturer?

Did the ground mods. Took care of two smaller issues ie: speaker static and occasional display not working.
Found some info on pinside regarding suspect transistor under play field. I did some testing and this may be the problem. I am waiting on a replacement transistor . Will post how it all goes.

Update, located, tested and replaced the transistor located close to the ball trough all alone.
Odd I thought! Anyway ramp is working! My first tech repair!!!!
A few pictures of the culprit in case anyone else has the same issue.
Note, replaced transistor #2N5884
as a substitute for original transistor #2N5879.IMG_3071.JPG

Holy! That IS an odd place for the transistor o_O
Looks like a short hazard too.

Good thing you didn't burn up the coil. You got lucky.

Nice fix!

Thanks Drano,
Working on a bank of drop targets not working out of the blue! I think it may be on the driver board.
As I read somewhere " system 80 it's an adventure". No kidding!
