Does anyone here know if this game looked like this when it was fresh out of the factory back in 1988?

I don't think so.. I mean it looks like it's in great shape, possibly HUO

But it certainly didn't have those bike toys on it from factory

If it is for sale, make sure you ask if all the coils were oiled. (this information is good to know before hand, as you'd have to clean it all off upon delivery)

Yes, this is my BR, but, I've stopped oiling coils for at least 5 years now......
Maybe if you'd asked the many people that bought games from me in the past 10 years (80 pins) you'd know that none of my games had sloppy coils, there's a reason for that, that I don't want to elaborate.....
I can PM you the list if you want, I'm sure you personally know most of them.
Claude.

Claude,

I'm very glad to hear you have stopped oiling your coils, all of your machines (and future buyers) thank you. There is absolutely NOTHING in a pinball machine that requires ANY oil in home use. (the only odd exception would be spinners, and even then it's debatable)

I was pretty sure that the bike toys were'nt on the playfield when the game was new, but I was talking about condition.

How much is a game in this condition worth?

Well, higher end Banzai Run seem to go for between $4000-$5000.
This particular game was for sale at $4000 on maaca last October. I had worked out a deal to buy it and was about to head to the bank to transfer funds over to Claude when he decided to pull the deal and keep the game... which is fine.

Since that point, he has done a lot of work and pulled the playfield, clearcoated it, done a lot of work to the cabinet and several other things I'm sure. I would say it is now closer to the higher end of the spectrum. Maybe $4700-$5000. Again depending on a lot of things. Does it have original or XPIN/PINSCORE LED displays? How are the boards? What is the quality of the clearcoat? Is it flat and spotless, or bumpy and uneven? Are there new plastics or yellowed/cracked originals? Same for the ramp. These are all things I would look for to determine where the game sits in that range.

Personally, I would remove the toys. I like the stock look... but that's not going to affect the value one way or the other.

Here's the original thread so you can compare the newer pics to what the condition was like back in October:

So, is this game for sale???
I would be very curious to know since, when Claude backed out in October, he did promise me first crack at it if/when it became available again. Hmmmm :?

He put oil on the coils!!!
I might oil my coil regularly, but never a machine. Why would anyone ever think that was a good idea.

A Chris Hutchins game would be worth a good deal more. Like maybe $6-$7K on top of the prices I've already mentioned!!!
His work is the ultimate in pinball restorations and his two BR projects were so intense that he practically swore he would never do another.

Besides the fact that that particular example is a protoype, so maybe even worth more. It is impossible to put a realistic number on a HEP game.

Since this is Aljo's game, maybe he can chime in on what's been done to the game so we can help you out

the PF clearcoat was done by a local car body repair guy I know, he applied 11 coats of clear, I wanted the PF to stay as even as possible, I had sanded the inserts first, they were badly cracked (typical system 11 defect), I then installed insert decals.
It's top quality clear, he spent 90$ only on the clearcoat.......
The cabinet was sanded to bare wood and the grain was filled with wood filler, sanded, filled again, sanded, filled again, sanded and filled one last time and sanded one last time, using higher grit sand paper at the end.
The guy from who I bought the cabinet stencils said that doing this job needed a lot of experience with cabinet painting to do a nice job, but I'd say that the way the stencils are made, it's impossible to do, with no exageration at all, every stencil has to be alined perfectly to the slightest half millimeter, I had to remove every stencil by pieces and re stick them at the exact location they had to go, I real pain, :FP: after finshing the cabinet I had to do many small touchups, I spent weeks only on the cabinet........ :FP: :FP: :FP: :FP:
Also, The bottom cabinet MDF panel has been replaced by a new one.
The cabinet turned out quite nice, looks new by the way, but I'll never ever do a BR cabinet job again.
All new plastics with plastic protectors on PF, new ramps (sub and playfield), new rubbers, new CPR backglass, inserts and GI's have LED's and a few 47 lamps on the GI's that have been replaced for new ones, installed felts on both sides of the PF to prevent scratches on the inside cabinet from lifting and lowering the playfield.
The 2 spinners were in good condition but I've repainted the sides and put a mylar on both sides to protect them.
I added 4 mods on the game to prevent it from damage (I think these should have been added from the factory), first: I added a small metal covering on the upper PF framing to prevent the PF hook from continuing to damaging the wood frame.
second: I added a rubber corner on the bottom back of the cabinet, so that when you fold the game for transport and put it on it's back, you don't damage the back cabinet corner.
third: I added 2 small 5 inch metal legs with rubber ends on the under back of the backbox (the part that's behind the cabinet) to prevent the game from falling on it's back when puting it upright, a real defect on this game and fourth: I've installed metal "bushings" (I don't know how they are called in english) in the cabinet and backbox holes to prevent the bolts from digging the wood, the upper playfield was laying on the cabinet before restoring the game, so, this corrected the problem and the "bushings" eliminates any further problems.
Cleaning and polishing the under PF mechanical parts and polishing every metal part of the PF and cabinet took lots of time also...... :FP:

If I sell, I have no idea how much my BR would be worth, I saw 2 BR's on Mr. Pinball go lately, one that was HUO at 10,000$ and another (more recently) with lots of new parts on it including a NOS PF, go at 6000$.
The 2 others that are for sale on Mr. Pinball are, Sean's game (I know personally the guy), which is Collector Quality at 8500$ and the other one at 7500$, both have been for sale for a while....
