My thoughts only......

I think its a cool beginners title. However, needing glass and at $1500 it's too rich for a first table. Ideally, you'll probably want to trade up sooner or later and that's top dollar for a really nice one IMO. Try and get it for $1100 or $1200 and get a new piece of glass (possibly free or cheap from another board member) and you'll have a good value.

Wipeout is an okay game, but all of those Gottleibs from that era have the same "Sears" feel to them, IMHO. At $1500 and some patience, you'll be able to find something better. If you are going to settle for a Gottleib, maybe talk to our man tim.sanderson about his R911 that is currently up for trade, but with a hint of a sale if no trade happens. You'd be buying from a member in good standing...a bonus when buying your first machine.

Given Chill's current budget of $2000-2500 for his first game, I'm sure he will find something in that price range or maybe even less if he is patient. I'm keeping my eye out for you and will let you know if something comes up for sure.

+1 here, I'm a Gottlieb fan, have owned one and regret selling it. I agree that it would be a good value at $1200 in working condition WITH a glass though. It's a fun title with an unusual ski lift and slalom skill upper play field.

I am assuming that spiroagnew has actually played one, and respect his opinion, but I disagree, if anything NEW STERN pinballs feel "Sears" plasticky! :lol:

System 3 Gottliebs are built like a rock and this one has decent flow, some nice shots and great audio. On the other hand R911 is a budget single level Gottlieb that was produced as a way to try and sell a lower cost quick to market pinball and it has certain inherent gameplay AND mechanical flaws in it that (IMHO, having owned and repaired one), are likely going to have many players trying to resell it.

The seller with the black knight is a f'ing douche. I called her about it and she told me someone was out there and offered 2,300.00 cash in hand but she wanted 2,500. I then spoke to her again and she told me she had a offer of 1,570.00. I went out for shits and giggles. The thing is in her garage, lying on the floor, has not been used in years and is dirtier then a dogs dick. The backglass is flaking bad, the cabinet is crap, playfield is worn to the wood and doesn't work. I did not even make a offer. This thing might be 500.00 if lucky. This chick is a nut job.
