Their stance seems fair: do whatever you want to your own machine just don't sell or distribute Williams IP.

I think the cactus canyon guy is the one who crossed the line and they don't want more of that although it seems like one might be able to negotiate a deal.

It's frustrating that they choose to protect an IP that is 20 years old and virtually dead. I don't see the reasoning behind this. I guess when there's money to be made, no matter how small..

Well, companies are forced to defend their IP or else it effectively becomes public domain and they can't do anything about it down the road, say when someone is making a complete replica machine.
