Time to get the old spandex on and tease that hair!

I've just wrapped up my Heavy Metal meltdown project and looking to make some space.
This is a one-of-a-kind example of this machine since it is a rare prototype/sample game.

I've located a couple of other owners with similar sample machines that were used for early testing or FCC approvals, but all of them have been hacked and the original prototype mechanisms have been snipped and removed. The main and most important proto feature is that the main ramp is blocked with a drop target... adding to the complexity and difficulty.

Other proto features on this example are hot pink Bally Midway side art. HMM was one of the few early 6803 pins to get actual themed artwork on the cab for production games... but the proto version shows that they were originally considering this pink and blue version of their generic art.
The game also had no power switch from factory (which I have fixed) and all of the solenoids were individually fused in-line. Unlike other HMM aprons, which were screen printed plastic, this machine's apron left a clear window where the rules were taped in from behind. I have the original hand typed proto rule card that came with it and all manuals.

I spent a long time working with a programmer to get the proto features working and scoring properly so this machine is the only example in the world with these features. It's exactly as Daniel Langlois had originally designed it.

I'm asking $3500 for this example, considering this is a special case.

The machine has been recently shopped, new ramps added, all previous hacks repaired/reversed and the cabinet has been re-done with new decals. I've also added new glass, legs and various other parts.
There are no HMM repro plastics available, so I cleaned up the originals and repaired where possible, but they show very well. The topper has been repaired/repainted and LED flashers added.
Custom HMM proto dro ptargets were commissioned from Steve Young and I have included a bag of them with the game too.

I know it's a very rare title to find in any condition. The interactive gameplay, with guitar riffs and beats playing on every switch hit, is really great. The 5 ball multi-ball and jackpots that raise the playfield multiplier up to 10x are epic!

Hopefully I can find someone that will appreciate the special nature of this example and all the work that has been put into it.

Thank you for looking.

I've learned (after owning one) that they are relatively uncommon... even the regular production models.
It also doesn't help that this was the height of Bally's cost cutting antics and these machines were not built to last. Luckily this one was in decent enough condition when I found it. I doubt it got a lot of time on route.

Seems the market for prototypes is a bit soft at the moment ;)

I'm lowering this to $3500 if anyone here is interested.
