I would like to give a BIG THANKYOU to Menace and MWong for helping make one of my pinball dreams a reality. Here's the deal, I found a pin (Metallica Pro) that was #1 on my wish list but the problem was that the pin was in Uxbridge Ontario and I was in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Yeah a wee bit of a drive I would say. Anyways the seller was a complete stranger and wasn't on any pinball forums so I needed to find someone I could trust to act as the middleman. Someone who could check out the game for me, verify it's advertised condition and purchase it and deliver it to a shipper reasonably close by. Yeah I know that's a really tall order. Since I didn't really know anyone in Ontario who could do this I eventually contacted MWong the "enabler" with my dilemma. I knew Mike was a man I could trust. Let's just say I was following a lot of his posts on this forum. Right away he suggested Menace who incidentally agreed to take on this task for the fee I offered. I also asked if he could strap and pallet the game for me, and because he drives a SUV he had to do this at the shippers. Well I couldn't have asked for anyone better to complete this task. He did an amazing job. The game was in HUO condition when it left and it was in HUO condition when it arrived. He did an amazing job all around with an incredible job strapping the game on the pallet and wrapping the whole machine in shrink wrap. He kept all lines of communication open and kept me informed on all aspects of the deal etc. At one point I really needed Menace to hussle as I felt the deal slipping by. Well he was up for that challenge as well. Thanks again Mike and Menace. I just want to let you guys know I'm just loving my Metallica. "I CAN'T BELIEVE I GOT A METALLICA!!!

You got that right......I would be waiting for years for a nice used Metallica pin to come up for sale in Manitoba. The problem with that is the fact I don't want to wait for years......

Yeah you rock like Metallica. I can't believe the awesome condition of the game after shipping and handling and everything it went through to get to Winnipeg. Yes I'm really enjoying the game especially after updating the software. It was running some real old code (1.03 or something like that). I read somewhere if Lyman Sheats had his way he'd still be working on the code for Metallica

Congrats on finally getting your Metallica flashman. If you ever need another game looked at and/or picked up in ON or QC let me know as I have pinball friends that I trust all over. The stars really lined up for your Metallica because Uxbridge is pretty much in Doug's backyard and he also had the means to pick it up too with his truck. He is probably the best person for the job since he can not only inspect the machine's cosmetic condition but also check out the internals for hacks or issues. Were you able to fix that controlled lamp issue in the game?

I guess I was in for a bit of a surprise when I inspected the board and saw those super tiny surface mounted chips. Hmmm I was expecting a shorted transistor not a shorted surface mounted IC (U14). That type of repair is a foreign to me I have to admit. I started looking into that and I guess there's a few different approaches I could take. I have to research this a little more and figure out the best way to do it and what new tools I will need.
