There has been an ongoing thread for the past 6-7 months regarding reproducing ramps for Swords of Fury. The pinsider's name is Freeplay40 and he has reproduced a clear ramp for High Speed as well as a blue (might be available in clear too?) ramp for Space Station. Drano could probably chime in on the quality and fit as he is currently doing a High Speed playfield swap.

Anyways, here are some pictures of the Swords of Fury ramps and looks like he is almost done. I know SuperJackpot has been keeping a close eye on this and on the pre-order list. If you have a Swords of Fury with busted ramps or plan on buying one in your near future now is the time to hoard and save these ramps for a rainy day :)

Freeplay40 also sent some sample ramps to Cliffy to make the appropriate protectors for it too.

Yup, watching this and have put an order in for a black upper and red lower ramp.

Plastics used for these ramps are PETG and acrylic. PETG is the stronger of the two but essentially only comes in clear. The coloured variations - red, blue etc. will be done in acrylic. Cliffy's in on this and will be making protectors for the ramps which will give the acrylic versions (and PETG) more side wall strength at the entrances.

Clear PETG lends itself to some very interesting lighting options, but IMO lets too much other stuff been seen from underneath, especially when using clear for an upper ramp. However, some well placed stickers on the underside would help. So will hiding/encasing some of the wiring previously hidden under the original black ABS ramps.

Krylon Fusion plastic paint works nicely with clear PETG when sprayed on from underneath, which is how the black ramps will be produced. They would have been prone to the same breakage as the originals were they done in black ABS. PETG is a better plastic for this implementation.

RAMP UPDATE...

Production begins tomorrow. Before I'm going to accept orders, I want to get a little inventory built up. I have some stock for producing the ramps, but my big order is in town and I will likely pick it up on Monday or Tuesday. Doubt I ordered enough to cover everyone out the gate, but my supplier was nice enough to order in extra! Generally I like to work through the list from top to bottom, but frankly that's more work to manage as some jump right on their machines to get me the parts or the ramps and others need more time. So when I announce I am ready to ship....come and get 'em. Chosen has sent me the decals he made and I will include those with the first 20 orders I get. Chosen has offered them for free, but for his efforts would appreciate a donation!

I will work until I get everyone covered that wants them. Cliff Rinear (CLiffy's) has the final models for the ramp protectors and was working on them this evening...Remember, the colored ramps absolutely need the additional protectors....highly recommended for the clear and black PETG as well for long life.

Earlier in the post someone pointed out that the light under the entrance to the upper ramp was a bit obnoxious. Took the recommendation of a directional LED and picked some up at the NW Pinball show. Below are photos of the clear ramp set, with the red LED GI under the plastic to the left of the lower ramp AND a red directional LED under the entrance to the upper ramp...no more glare and it lights up the horseshoe under the upper ramp nicely.

In the next few days I will nail down the optional costs for rivets, rivet washers, black conduit and shipping.

Mark

I didn't make these ramps and if you look a few posts above the contact for the person who does can be found in post #5. I would send him an email to see if he still have any available for sale or if it is not too late to get in on his current batch.
