Hi everyone,
Some of you may know that I started to build my own Fathom a couple of years ago. I took a Bally Fireball II and converted/restored the cabinet, took all the necessary parts and bought a bunch more. I had been waiting for a friend to complete his own Fathom project because he had a spare playfield that was crucial to my project. It had all of the unobtainium mechs and playfield harness needed to make this viable.
Well, getting those parts took a lot longer than anticipated and my project sat for a long time. In the interim, I was able to find a nice original Fathom and I now have less incentive, time, space etc. to complete the new build. I could push through and finish it and then list it here as a high-end restore for $7-$8K, but time and space are worth more to me at this point. If there is anyone here who would like to pick up where I've left off, I would be willing to let the project go as-is and recoup my expenses so I can focus on my other projects. I think I have roughly $5K in at this point. So, if you are willing to do a little work, you can end up with a high-end Fathom for a lower rate and a lot of the harder work is complete and the hard-to-find parts have been found. shoot me a PM. I think the first offer of $4500 would take it all.
Thanks for looking.
Here is a basic outline of what I've done or purchased, followed by some random photos I've taken along the way.
-Fireball II donor game was restored and repainted with pinball pimp stencils
-new plywood bottom added to cabinet
-all original boards and hardware included
-transformer and rectifier included
-all original displays
-cabinet harness is in good shape (still needs a couple of re-routed wires to convert from FBII spec to Fathom)
-new custom lamp board was made to match Fathom layout (upgraded lamp sockets)
-original coin door/shooter in good shape
-new legs
-new set of Bally side rails (not installed yet)
-FBII apron restored and repainted with decal to match Fathom
-CPR playfield (i think it's a silver... not sure)
-CPR backglass
-a set of lightly used Fathom plastics also to be included from my other machine (I think they are CPR too but no topper)
-multiple new parts from Marcos and others (posts, pop caps etc.. I'll have to go through it all)
-and the final piece of the puzzle... a populated original Fathom playfield with all of the game specific mechs and intact playfield harness. I just recently got this from my friend. It has most of the key parts and I have already collected a few mechs it was missing.
Please don't hesitate to contact me directly for more details.
Thanks again
