Later all the silent auction pins had starting bids.
The most complete was a playmatic. Many empty cabinets or bottom halfs.
I kinda felt like it was good luck if I could fix any of them if a place with this many spare parts only got them this far.
It was a total bust in my opinion.
I think "total bust" is a bit harsh. The vast majority of the pins in the silent auction were rough around the edges (complete projects, really, mostly EMs), with an empty Dr. Who cab, an empty SW:Trilogy cab and an empty Atari head (I believe those were the only empty cabs that were there...that's
fewer than "a ton"). There was a list provided before hand...all the games were described as projects...no surprises. If you were expecting Pinball Expo, Allentown or VFW, I can see how you'd be disappointed.
I found quite a few little parts and pieces in the swap meet area I needed and paid next to nothing for them. And I actually bought a couple of the aforementioned project pins a few days after the show...Mr. Hanley was willing to deal.
To be blunt, what more do we have in the GTA for "shows"...a place where we can get together, sell our parts, shoot the breeze and play some pinball. This could act as a great jumping off point. If I heard correctly, I think the Church is going to host again in the spring, and this time provide more indoor space for the community to bring their own games, for sale or free play. I'll provide a game or two...maybe erase the words "total bust" from the PBRev lexicon?
