Hopefully the Playdium delivery guys didn't set it up for you... had a service call to go and fix a number of little issues that those clowns should have dealt with during setup (ddin't remove foam packing behind PF backboard, SMAUG didn't work at all, button on lockdown bar didn't work etc). Best part was Playdium then told the owner it would be a couple weeks before they could send a tech over, AND he would have to pay them on top! I just about fell over when I heard that.

Amazing what 12K+ DOESN'T get you these days...

D

Yikes! Great way to make someone want to purchase another machine from you in the future.

Dammit, I just noticed that one of the side decals has a small ding in it (right above "the"). Didn't see it on first or second glance, but what has been seen can't be unseen. Only real concern here is that I don't want it to get bigger by catching on something. I suppose I could try painting over it? Email sent to JJP support with pictures. At least if I get a replacement I have the option of fixing it?

Just spitballing but I might try some clear drying glue. I used some to glue on a small chipped off spot on a head. Line was there but at least no bare wood the peice was there.

Yeah, I think I might just try to colour match the spot, and then clear over it with a little glue.

Problem #3 on the game out of the box was that apparently one of the drops hadn't been working properly. Seems like it was intermittent (since I'm sure it was up at one point), but the F in DWARF wouldn't pop up. Coils worked though, so checked, and sure enough it was the opto registering that the target was up all the time. Traced the wires back to a board under the PF, and found that it was a loose trifurcon pin inside one of the connectors. Fixed that, and it's all good again. Kind of surprised that it didn't go to a credit dot though-the diagnostics showed that there'd been around 900 failures to controlled drop the target-I wonder what the threshold is?

I suppose it just goes to show that moving games is bound to cause issues, and cross country shipping even moreso? Anyway, the diagnostics on JJP games are pretty impressive. The game looks like it'd be a bitch to do any serious work on though-really crowded under the PF. The catch on the ball trough and the PF supports are absolutely amazing too.

I do feel kind of bad for any non-pinhead that buys a NIB like this as their first game. Means getting thrown in the deep end I suppose.

It sorta works but the left VUK doesn't appear to be strong enough to kick the ball up. It takes a good 10-20 tries before it finally does and sometimes the machine doesn't even know the ball is in there too.

Went there yesterday to try it again.....exactly as you said...first game I played ball was in the left VUK and shoots up time and time again and wouldn't get all the way out....eventually it timed out and just sat. Had to shut it off and restart it and try again. Same issue after 5 minutes or so. The girl there said that one in the showroom has been constant issues but the 12 or so they sold and are out with players haven't had issues that they are aware of yet.
Most beautiful machine visually, but the mechanical stuff I have seen on this machine so far bothers me for long term place in the lineup.

Its amazing that a company that sells and services pinball machines cannot have a fulling working pin on their showroom floor. Its a disgrace. Every time I have been there they never seem to have one fully working pin. Its like a dealership that has every demo car with mechanical problems.

If SB's sales people don't care how their showroom games look or play then why would you expect the guys behind the service counter to care? I know if I was a sales person and my pay check relies on my showroom pins to be working properly I would push for issues to be fixed right away or at the very least unplug the machine or pull it from the floor. A brand new machine or title with an "Out of Order" sign doesn't make a very good first impression.

Since my last bring homes 6 months ago or so, I picked up a nice Shadow, WH2o, Congo and in a week or two will pick up my Judge Dredd.

Well, not really a "new" machine as this was my old Shadow.... but she's back!

I need to swap in the correct coin door, but this example has full brass plating on the ramps, diverters and wireforms... plus re-chromed gun, all from the late Mike Chestnut.

Love this machine ;)

Picked up a Stern Stars on the weekend and setup today with a new Altek ultimate mpu board but already dealing with a few issues: the flipper buttons are registering points with each press, one of the digits in the lower right display is out, the travel of the right flipper is not going as high as it should.
