WTB Time for my first SS pin?

I'm tinkering with the idea of adding an SS Pin to my collection.

I'm pretty sure it would need to be an older one as I definitely couldn't convince my wife to let me spend the amount required for a DMD or even likely a system 11 pin. Anyone have any cheapish SS player units or projects sitting around? I’m probably looking for something in around the $2k range

I think Roger in Sudbury still has a Robocop that he'll probably let go of for around that price if you don't mind driving a bit to get it. I bought a Hook from him a couple of months ago that needed a good cleaning and a few parts but was in otherwise good working order. Good looking pin. Good DE pin. Bowen's tutorial on it was excellent. Look it up.
It helped me in competition vs. a buddy on it on his example of the pin a few years back.

I was almost tempted to get it or that Taxi down in London for a second machine. They weren't kidding when they said once you get your first one they multiply like rabbits. If they didn't cost so damn much...

Roger is a cool guy and knows his electronics, the power supply on the one I bought was rebuilt nicely and that Robocop has new rottendog displays and probably the same treatment as mine got inside.

I feel i need to get some advice from the more experienced pin folks on here. If you were in my position and were looking for a mid to late 80's pin in the $2k range what would you be looking for? I have a wife, 2 teenage daughters and 2 young sons.

They love playing my 2 currently working EMs and I want to get something that will appeal to them as well as me.

Find out what it is about the games you have that makes them enjoy it.

Is it a theme they like? Or is it hitting a spinner or drops or something else that gives them the satisfaction

Next, (or first) is this game for them or for you. It sounds like a loaded question, but it's a solid one. At the end of the day, is it a game you need to keep you interested in your collection or is it bonus and really just added fun.

Once you know why youre getting the game, start seeking out gameplay that makes the players happy.

Finally, think about if you are a long term keeper or if you'll be selling the game off eventually.

Ok so I've done a LOT searching and of talking with the wife about this and I'm pretty sure she is sick of me!! LOL

I found a couple of options that interest us if you had your choice between a 1990 Dr Dude or 1995 Water World for approx the same price which one would you choose assuming both were in equally good condition?

Actually just waiting on some more info from the seller and pics before i make the call.

It would require an 8 hour drive (each way) into the US so i will need to see their condition before committing to that drive. Seems pins are quite a but cheaper south of the border though.

Not what i had originally planned on buying but after doing a LOT of searching i came home with this last night.

I've always been drawn to this game and the kids LOVE it!
