Wiring in the head

Just wanted so thoughts on my BSD. I am working on cleaning this machine up and went to replace the batteries in the head but see some funky wires.

1 of the looks like the casing is stripped off. Should I just tape it up and forget about it or figure out where it goes and replace it.

Other wires are just taped up and I have some that are just not connected. Everything on the game works but I don't feel good about random wires in the head.

Let me know your thoughts. Thanks

I would personally fix everything in these pics, as the previous "tech" was either lazy or just didn't give a f*ck. All wires should be connected, regardless if the game *seems* to be working 100% or not. They are there for a reason.

Only way to do this correctly is get a good set of schematics with cabinet drawings too, then figure out where everything is supposed to go and crimp up new connectors for anything that has been hacked.

Thanks for the replays.

I'm all for making it right just have to learn how to. Is it worth my time/cost to do this or is there someone locally I should give a call to?

If I'm doing this myself I'm going to need some guidance. Where would I find a tool to make these ends? I think some of the head to a Molex connector as well so I need to re crimp that side.

I have the original scimatics book so I have that covered.

Get all the stuff you need from Ed @ Great Plains Electronics. Pickup a bag of trifuricon pins, some housings and then the crimp tool for the pins. If you're not sure of what to order, you can post here or just drop Ed an email and let him know what you're trying to do and he will set you straight. (he's a great person to deal with)

The good news I have everything traced out. The wires that were just open were not connected on the other side, they were already replaced.

I checked out the site and looks cool. The molex connector by the transformer I have figured out. What I'm not sure on is the board side of the connectors and what size wire to use. the connector on the board looks like a 0.1" or a 0.156" and im still not sure what tool to use to crimp this stuff. you also said trifuricon pins, Im not really sure what that means.

Pretty much everything on the driver PCB is 0.156", except the switch matrix connectors. As for pins, go with the 18-20AWG size. Trifuricon pins are the standard molex pins but they are a 3 sided design that grabs each pin on 3 sides instead of just the blade contacting on the one side. Search for part# 08-52-0113.
