Zaccaria, House of Diamonds repair thread

I fixed one zaccaria Shooting the Rapids, thought I would fix this with one and keep some record of the process.

1. Cpu is dead, with these type of boards its on or off. No leds to tell you what wrong.
2. Driver board and power supply have been repaired.


I using a leons test rom, scope, DMM, logic probe and schematic.

Looks like someone did some repair. I guess that will be the first thing to check before putting power to it.

1. Checked all traces...all work for now.
2. Power it up and put the test rom and nothing.
3. Did a memory test...5101 dead.
4.Repleaced a 5101 and it boots.
5. checking all the outputs and found a dead line on pin 14 on the 2101 ram using the scope.

Waiting for parts for now

1. Installed the 2101.
2 Corrected the signal on R34- 36.
3. No response on R47- 49.
4. Tracked that back to IC 18 76ls160.
5.Sayal has them and hopefully I will install it tonight.
6 Noticed a schematical error, There is no ic 43 , should have read ic33. pins are correct.

Nice. Sounds like you're almost there... Hopefully Sayal has the 76ls160 out on the floor and not in their "warehouse" so you're not forced to pay $15 for the one IC or buy $15 worth of them! Ya, I'm not bitter at all about Sayal. LOL I'm just spoiled because I know how it used to be back in the day, and now it seems every single part that I need that would normally be out on the floor is now conveniently in the "warehouse".

Can't tell you how many times I've walked out of there empty handed because of this. I tell them everytime I can get what I need on-line pretty quick without the BS minimums.

1. Installed IC 18 76ls160.
2. All outputs ok.
3. checked all 3081's and found 2 to be defective.
4. parts in hand and installing tonight.

1. installed the 3081 .
2. rom1 tested all ok
3. installed the game roms and intstalled the board in the game.
4. Powered up and random numbers on the display. (getting closer).
5. Now to test rom 2 for errors.

1. Turned out to be a 4001 inverter ic and some really bad soldering job
