I played a Firepower hooked up to one of these. It added so much to the game I can't even describe it. I'm thinking of picking up a 3rd to connect to High Speed and Grand Lizard.

I guess it depends. #1 or #2 might make a critical difference.

I have to think the overall strain on the components wouldn't be worth it - not just the coil, but transistors etc.

When I'm not too busy, I get a game or two in a day. My favourite thing to do is what I call "walking the line", playing each one left to right. A few times, if I've got the chance. In fact, I'm heading over there right now.

Spent the day working at F14 Dave's. Mostly deck repair, opened pool, etc. He's bought a new house, and part of the plan today was to pull F14 and his CT multi for staging, but to our mutual surprise the stager loved them, and they're staying. I wasn't in the hobby the last time I moved, and...

Best bet? Ask. As in any hobby, there are great people and douchenozzles. Collect a few opinions. It's a small world. I've done business with fantastic people, and others (who will remain nameless in public) that I would recommend moving carefully with. PMs work well.
