Most of the board could be checked with a logic probe, but you don't get to see what the waveform is actually doing with one. So you could see if things were pulsing, but you'd have no idea on the timing or if the wave forms were at the correct voltages, and some of the waveforms I'm looking...

What's ironic is I've been working on a client's Bally Star Trek and the left flipper was sticking, and last night I took the time to figure out why. Sure enough the flipper / bushing gap was wrong (too small). Adjusted it correctly and now it's working perfect. D

Agreed. Flipper bushing gap is very important, and while too small a gap is an issue having too large of a gap is just as bad. The main thing to determine when having a flipper issue is where to start looking, and to do this you need to figure out if the issue is mechanical or electrical. You...
